First Overclock test, 5930k & dark rock pro 3

Ive heard so much about the dark rock pro 3 but i have mixed feelings regarding my overclock.

Everything in the rampage bios is set to default. The only things i changed are:
memory set to 2666 (corsair LPX 3000, i accidently bought 2x 16GB kits, got an error in HCI memtest after 30 minutes @ the default XMP 3000)
CPU strap and baseclock both 100 - stock.
CPU clock multiplier set to 43 to achieve the mighty 4,3ghz
and cpu + case fans set to turbo. Core voltage is automatically set to 1.249V.

HWmonitor is telling me 43°C idle, whilst CAM (software i use for Hue+) is telling me 35°C. weird. core clocks are 33-34°C in idle (hwmonitor)
running realbench, the cpu temp kicks at 76-82°C with the cores being at 72-77°C, and during the first few seconds of prime95 the temps go up to 85°C which is horrifying.
in cinebench, temps are at around 75°C-80°C. really uncomfortable since ive seen much better results of other users rocking the DRP3.

HALP

edit: i had the same results before i put fresh thermal paste on there.

That's only about 10c warmer at all levels than my AIO liquid cooler with a 360" radiator, and my voltage is only 0.02v higher than yours. I don't think your temps sound all that bad for an air cooler, but I haven't tried that many.

I am so tempted to remove the dark rock pro and redo it once more, with better thermal paste. im only at 4.3ghz and the temps go beyond 85°C in prime, most likely 90°C during the second phase.

the weird thing is: my idle cpu frequency is not maxed out, its around 1GHZ. how come the CPU idle temp is 45°C when the temp insidfe my case is only 30°C?

also, this is my first build. and how tf do i connect the 5 total fans of my corsair 760t to the motherboard, and still control them with the fan controller which has only 3 female connectors? not possbile right? so how do i create good airflow?

im lost

Maybe this is solution... nice tool...

I liked the DR3 Pro - here is a link to a review I did of that cooler a little while back...

ASUS Rampage V Extreme BIOS 4101 | i7-6950X | Thermaltake Core X9 | G.Skill F4-2800C16Q-32GRK | Cooler Master Nepton 280L | Dual Samsung 850EVO 500GB SSD | PSU: DARK POWER PRO 11 1000W | 3TB & 4TB HDD | NVIDIA GTX Titan X | ASUS 24x DVD±RW Drive | Win10 Pro

i got the fans fixed, theyre all connected to my mobo and ill try to find the perfect settings for airflow soon, when my 32gb ram sticks, graphics card and USB hub arrives. Didnt know the dark rock pro 3 handled overclocks that bad, i actually bought it thinking it goes toe to toe with watercooling equip, but thats just me having wrong expectations 😛

nice review red, well written and super information all around! i like the pics

I have reviewed a ton of coolers over the years, and the be Quiet! coolers are not bad at all, but the Cadillac of air coolers has been the Noctua NH-D15 and NH D15S.

well if i want to go above 4ghz /maybe 4.1ghz i need a watercooling system - maybe later. but it would make a huge difference in terms of rendering (cinema 4D & After Effects) which is why im quite sad that it isnt working as expected. that damn heatsink is so big but doesnt even get warm in the slightest. Not even the copper tubes near the CPU get really warm, so why does the cpu go above 80-85° in stresstests? x_x

one positive aspect is there though. its silent, no sound at all. the damn thing would work even without fans.
