Fast boot on or off

Hi to all,
during attempt to make a WOL feature works, on bios I've disabled the fast boot and now the boot is fastest, 10 second more with fast boot enabled.
33 seconds after beep (post ok) with fast boot, 23 seconds after beep (post ok) without fast boot.
Do you know why?
Thank you.

Your sig says you're running Windows 10. Which version? Apply the Anniversary Update yet?

My understanding is Fast Boot delays unnecessary USB device loading until the OS load. Now, the behavior I see with it enabled is that, after post, all the lights on my USB devices go dark (even the keyboard and mouse), the Windows 10 spinning dots do 3 full revolutions, then the usb lights come back on and the login screen appears. That period comprises the bulk of my boot time.

I'm pretty sure I tried disabling Fast Boot so that all USB devices would be loaded by the time the OS started, but it seemed to make no difference.

So... do you get the extended spinning dots with usb device lights off with either setting?

So I tried turning Fast Boot off. Actually think it's sped up my boot a second or two according to the event log. My previous boots were always in the 24-26 second range, now they're 23-25.

And I'm pretty sure that change is in the windows spinning dots phase I mentioned above. Think I saw it actually finish before two full spins were done. NEVER saw that before. I've only done a few tests though, if what I saw was just coincidental I'll update this post.

Yeah, it's too minor a difference to say turning off Fast Boot is any faster for me. Definitely not any slower either tho. The effect of enabling or disabling it is best described as negligible.

I suspect the true bottleneck to my boot speed is the initializatiom of my Intel 750 SSD. Intel themselves admit its an issue, so. Your mileage may vary.

I am still curious if anyone else gets that spinning dots with usb off stage tho.

Fast Boot =55 sec
OFF = 70 sec

WinX AU 1607 , however im with 4 monitors and lots of USB devices like wheels, dashoboard, 2x keyboards + mouse etc.
Im struggling with latency problems and some errors in event viewer, but thats for another thread 😉
