I'm kind of curious what these windows you talk about are actually saying. When you say it didnt install, what makes you think it didnt? I still think it is just overwriting your previous install of Asmedia drivers. (possibly) When you click "ok" in the last window described, maybe that is the final install window... If you end up installing again take a screenshot or record what the window says.
But again. If it ain't broke dont fix it. I think it's far from broke. And the fact that device manager is saying that Asmedia drivers are installed is saying a lot. I honestly think that everytime you "unsuccessfully installed" the drivers it actually installed them. I wouldn't mess with it.
