I've considered getting a ups, but 900 watts is about the biggest one I can find advertised, and I'm unsure if that would be enough for a system with a 1200w PSU.

Hey,
Your psu can pull 1200w +/- (depending on it's efficiency) but if you need 600w in full load, the psu isn't going to pull 1200w from the wall and then give you 600w that would be catastrophic imo, for many reason;hardware/environment etc. you should do a test to know how much wattage you pull in full load/gaming. Then analyze what info you got out.

I wish i had the cash for one like that GoNz0- but its just cost me over £1200 to get this pc up and running. was looking at about £150 ish for one.but i read somewhere that some PSUs dont like been plugged into one. How will i fined out what one will work with the psu i have. still dont get how this will stop the cpu over volt error. dont even know why i got the error to start with. the safe setting for this bored must not be safe at all if its going to over volt the cpu on a boot up. is there not away to set the max boot volt for the cpu so i wont happen again?
@_RC_ so your telling me asus know about this error and that it has killed lots of CPUs from what iv read in other posts and there still not giving any info out about it or why it happened or how to stop it happening again. if this is true its a killer bug on the mobo and it needs to be fixed ASAP. looks like it happens on all the rampage v bios as well not just the one. so theres no point in flashing an old one back on as it still might do it again. if this mobo kills my cpu on all stock safe setting asus will be getting the bill for a new one. £368 this bored cost me and its tried to kill my cpu that not good at all.
i think asus need to recall the rampage v then and get this fixed. stock safe setting killing CPUs is just MAD.
