CPU fan error with R5E10

Hi,

Anyone else ran into sudden problems at boot?

My CPU fans start late in the starting up process. Not sure if they started running earlier before this issue.
So I get error message bout CPU fan error. I run setup and check that I have ignore on low limit for it.
That doesn't help. Error comes every boot unless I put ignore on CPU and CPU opt in monitor line also.

Weird thing is that when in windows the fanexpert can optimize the fans ok. They start spinning from approx 190 rpm.
This issue started to occur today so I updated to 0901 bios. That didn't help. I have to keep ignore on low limit and monitor lines for CPU fans.

Fans are Noctua.

I had this issue constantly on the RVE. I had a water pump that was recognized on every other fan header EXCEPT the CPU header which is where I wanted it.

Simply put, it seems that the PWM signal to the MB wasn't working properly or the header wasn't. I tried other fans on it, which worked but my pump did not.

Tried the pump on another mb CPU header and it worked fine.

Bottom line, not every header is compatible with every fan/pump for some reason. Two suggestions for you:

1. have you tried another fan on it to see if that works.
2. Have you tried the secondary BIOS
Panteks Enthoo Elite / Asus x299 Rampage VI Extreme / Intel I9-7900X / Corsair Dominator RGB 3200MHz

MSI GTX 1080 TI / 2x Intel 900p / Samsung 970 Pro 512GB

Samsung 850 PRO 512GB / Western Digital Gold 8TB HD

Corsair AX 1200i / Corsair Platinum K95 / Asus Chakram

Acer XB321HK 4k, IPS, G-sync Monitor / Water Cooled / Asus G571JT Laptop

Hi and thnx!

I haven't tested other fans on it yet. Seems odd that it starts suddenly. The CPU and CPU opt fans have worked fine until today.
Actually the fans work fine. When starting up the fans spin briefly and then stop. They continue to spin after short time.
If I have disabled monitoring on CPU fan everything starts up fine. If enabled the fans start spinning again when the error message appears but they spin full speed. And of course after the message I have to go to bios and disable monitoring.

And the Asus Fanxpert can see the rpm of the fans ok. If I enable monitoring even the bios sees the rpm.
Bios just won't boot without error if I enable monitoring (and Q fan control with "ignore" low limit).

But I will try others when I get new ones.

Tried secondary BIOS (0502) and same error. Tried switching headers for the fans (CPU to CPU opt and vice versa) and no help.

On the RVE, the CPU header auto-detects fan type, but the other fan headers don't. Unless you set those headers to PWM, they would have been in DC mode. If they weren't set to PWM, it explains the disparity you are seeing, and based upon your other thread, it is likely the settings were not adjusted, hence the false positive. Probably just needed to set the curve up properly... That's assuming the pump being used is Intel PWM compliant (not all are).

ASUS motherboards always had best fan control options.
I notice that before several years.

Can you help me with my issue @Raja ?
Or is this indication of a RMA case?

Some fans takes a little longer to spin up causing the error. The Thermalright ones come to mind. I always use Noctua fans with my ROG motherboard so I'm pretty sure they fall victim to this.

What are the models of the fans that you are using? Also when you push the button to turn on your system, does the Noctua fan start spinning immediately or is there a short delay?

Yes, they do spin briefly immediatelly after I push power on.
The cooler is Noctua NH-D15S (with included NF-A15 140mm fan and Noctua NF-F12 PWM as extra fan).

It seems like the BIOS is trying to run the fans lower than they can ??
Or is it just a malfunction because the fans used to spin fine for few weeks (no errors)?
