Code 00, after Code 79 nightmare!

So my new Rampage V arrived yesterday, the build went smooth all until I started powering up. The very first boot took a long time and I noticed the error code 79. I got into the Bios(#1), checked it out a bit and did a couple of restarts. Each time I got code 79 and it took ages to boot unless I did a quick shut down and restart. The factory Bios was 0802, I flashed it with no problems through usb ez flash to 1401, however I kept getting the 79 code. I tried different settings and of course stock and no good. I then switched while in uefi to force boot Bios2 and the 79 code disappeared. I installed Windows and the drivers and then I decided to check out if by some miracle Bios1 still has the problem. So I selected it in Uefi again by doing force booth Bios1, it booted fine, no more 79. After the shutdown however, the system wouldn't boot anymore at all giving code 00. I tried switching Bios2 on the mobo but the led still indicates Bios1 and I'm stuck in this 00 start shutdown loop.

Please help I'm really getting desperate here.

my specs are:
5820k
16gb 4x4 HyperX 3000
2xMSI 970
OCZ 480 ssd (with windows on it), another 120 ssd and 4 hdds totaling 7 TB.
Nexus 1.1k Gold PSU 1100w

I managed to switch to Bios2 (0802), however this now also gives me error code 79 and it takes ages to boot. I did find out though that if I switch "Slow mode - on" on the mobo I don't get 79 anymore and it boots fine. This is SO, SO weird and now I guess Bios1 is dead?!?

Btw, everything I did was on stock settings, I'm scared to even try to set the memory to run at XMP 3000 for example...

Another issue, (almost) every time I do get into windows I have to uninstall and and reinstall my network drivers in order to be able to connect to the internet. I'm also scared to even try to copy Bios2 to Bios1 (via the uefi bios flashback thingy), but no matter what I do right now it won't boot up at all from Bios1 (1401) and give me 00 and I can't understand WHY.

List the models of all the SSDs/HDDs connected to your system. Also are you using the old Windows installation of your OCZ or did you do a fresh installation? Also which heatsink are you using?

Hey Chino,

I'm using the following storage drives:
OCZ Vertex 460A 480GB (with a clean Windows 8 install, I'm waiting to fix my mobo before re-activating it and getting 8.1, since it does not accept my key anymore because of hardware changes) SATA-III
SSD Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA-III
2x WD 1TB SATA-II 7200 RPM 32MB RE3
WD 2TB SATA-III 7200RPM 64MB Caviar Black
WD 3TB SATA-III 64MB Red

The cooler iis an old (but perfectly capable) H100 in push pull 4 fan configuration with Arctic MX-4 paste, the reported temps at default idle in UEFI both 1401 and 802 were arround 28-30 degrees Celsius.

At the moment I tried out the EZ-mode automatic OC and it gave me a 4GHz boost clock and I ran some Prime on it out curiosity and the max temps were arround 60.

Correct.

Switch back to BIOS 1. Clear your CMOS. Then proceed to reflash the 1401 BIOS using the USB BIOS Flashback procedure. See if your system will post. If it doesn't, try loosening the screws for the H100 a little.

How do I clear the CMOS on a Rampage V? After of course powering off and removing the cord, the button at the back needs to be pressed once or held pressed for some seconds?

My system posts (well, with error code 79 most of the time) on BIOS 2, do you think the error code might be related to having the screws too tight on the CPU? Especially since I did get it all the time ever since I did power on my system. I'm just scared of somehow messing up the BIOS 2 as well right now.

No need to remove the cord. Just shutdown your system. The butoon to clear your CMOS is on the back of the motherboard. It's the button with a curved arrow logo.

Yes, I've seen users experiencing post issues with uneven pressure during heatsink installation. As we're going to try to recover BIOS 1, there will be no harm done to BIOS 2. Just maek sure you switch back to BIOS 1 before doing the USB BIOS Flashback procedure.

So I can push the clear CMOS button by just shutting down the system? I thought I need to at least turn off the PSU.

So shut down -> switch to BIOS 1 on mobo button -> clear CMOS -> reflash BIOS (btw, I used the EZ Flash 2 procedure for the first flash and it worked flawlessly) with USB BIOS Flashback procedure. And if this doesn't work, I will loosen the H100 a bit.

Anyway, I will follow your instructions and get to you as soon as I get to my PC since I'm away right now.
