Boot Problems on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble with my new build hanging after a warm boot on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It was already a pain to get the OS installed to begin with. But now that I had finally got it installed and it kept crashing at warm boot, I was like hmm, WTF is going on here. So I checked all the connections on the motherboard to make sure they were correct. ( Note: I am very attention to detail type person and double check myself every step of the way when I build new builds. ) Everything was connected correctly on the motherboard. I also reseated all the components to be sure. So then I thought, well maybe I am installing Windows 7 wrong. I had read many guides on installing Windows 7 on the new UEFI motherboards before I even started this build, but most of the instructions would forget a step or important detail. Like having only a certain amount of drives connected when installing the OS. On my system, Windows 7 is hanging at the boot logo. Windows 7 will boot from a cold boot. So I read the ROG guide on installing Windows 7 on UEFI. I followed the instructions to the tee. But, I got the same results. So at this point, I called ASUS technical support and told them the problem I was facing. ASUS technical support referred me to the guide on ROG, which I had already read and completed. So I'm posting this problem on the forum to see if I can get some help to fix the problem. I will post my system specs below. Any help would be great, as I am not looking forward to taking apart my new build to return it to micro center. Potentially, wasting the time I spent building it. If you need any additional information, please let me know. 😞

I had similar problems with booting -Just a quick suggestion -try unpluging your usb devices (mouse and keyboard etc) -to see if it boots past the logo.

Thanks, I will try it and let you know.

Hi,
I remember I had this problem on the maximum vi hero board with windows 7, as you mentioned, I disconnected everything except the SSD and mouse and keyboard, but I installed windows from a DVD (connected by sata) and not from a USB drive and it worked, I don't know if this was the solution or might be my USB drive, but I hope it will help

Please explain in detail the problem you're having for me. When you say crash at Windows, is it freezing? Or do you see a BSOD?

Also list the brand and models of all your SSDs/HDDs/Optical drives.

The computer hangs at the Windows 7 boot logo. Their is no BSOD. The only error in the Windows Log is the generic Windows did not start successfully BS. It only has this problem on a warm boot. The motherboard shows the correct code for booting to the OS. It does not change after it hangs either. I have added the hard drives information in the specs above. I only have the two SSDs and DVD Drive attached.

Yes, I still have the problem even when no other drives are connected. In fact, it will not boot at all if I plug anymore drives in.

Have you installed anything since finishing the Windows install? Windows updates, drivers, programs, etc..? If so, please list them for me.
