Since I have built this system I've been having boot and reboot issues. Sometimes on first boot the post screen will be blank with just the American Megatrends logo and im having to do a reset for it to boot correctly. If I leave a usb drive in and switch it off then remove the stick and switch it on again I have the same issue blank post screen, I have the same issue if I do a reboot. I was using bios 1502 but was unable to get a clean install of windows 8.1 on due to having to reset every time it rebooted. I've tried 1 stick of memory, switched the pci-e lane off for the second gpu, also switched the lane off for the SSD and tried installing on another SDD via Sata, removed sound card. I have managed to install win 7 x64 cleanly on the Raidr but the blank post screen bug is still haunting me. It will not go past the post screen when this happens. I contacted Asus and they said look at the QVL list for my hardware but I had to inform them I built the system FROM the QVL list. I've been building systems for the last 12 years and I also moderate for Asus on ROG Boards for the last 7 years but this is beyond me.

can anybody shed any light on this ??
Regards

When your system halts at the American Megatrends logo, which QCODE do you see on the DEBUG LED?

looking at the forum I read that you have to have both the 8 pin and the 4 pin ATX plugged in if you have more than 1 graphics card installed. I'm not using the 4 pin only the 8 pin so I have a feeling that the q code will be something to do with graphics and the other thing is I didn't think to look at the q code because it always gave 1 beep. With previous boards it has been 4 or 8 but not both but saying that! they have all been AMD boards like crosshair 4 / 5 /5z and not Intel. Never had any issues by just using the 8 pin so I will have a look when I get home and post back.

when I got home I just added the 4 pin cable along with the 8 pin and it seems to be fine, post screen is populated every time. I've even tried to get it to not populate i.e. remove a usb stick on reboot or continually tapping the delete to get in to bios which was a very big no not gonna happen. I always had to tap it once at the right time to get in to bios other wise the post screen would just be blank, same issue with the F2 key so just getting in to bios was a mission. As I never got to see the QCODE im guessing it was halting on graphics cards. If for some reason the issue is not resolved I will post back.. Thank you for the speedy reply

The American Megatrends screen still show blank when you repeatedly press the delete key to get in to bios. The QCODE is A0 which is IDE initialization is started.

The extra 4 pin power connector is to supply the CPU with extra power when needed. Under normal circumstances, you do no need to populate that connector but I would recommend you do to so if your PSU has that extra cable.

The QCODE helps a lot when diagnosing issues like yours. Also there are 4 QLEDs beside the 24 pin power connector. It would be awesome if you can tell me if any of them remain lit when your system halts. 😉

Disconnect all your USB devices. See if your systems till halts at the American Megatrends screen. If it doesn't, start plugging in each USB device one at a time. I would start with the keyboard.

I removed all USB devices and on reboot the American Megatrends screen was blank. I get the same issue when I remove a USB stick. Im beginning to think that the board has a fault but overclock is not a problem @ 4.4. The only thing I have done is switch back to bios 1 ...1502. Im Stumpt

1. Apart from the Raidr and BD DVD Writer, do you have any other HDD or SSD connected to your system?

2. Which version Windows are you using?

3. Which method did you use to update to the 1502 BIOS?

Hi Chino
I Have 4 HDD and ! SSD connected in the system, I'm using Win 7 x64 at the moment and I used EZ flash in bios to update the bios. I have gone back to 1401 which is on my bios 2 and I have also set the memory manually i.e. speed and voltage, it was on XMP to start with which is something I never use as a rule. I also Had a message come on the screen bios was updating do not turn off or reboot your system?? I was not updating bios or swopping bios at the time I got the message. Strange!!
