ASUS ROG STRIX X99 - Memory request

Hi to all,
i'm going to buy a new X99 ROG STRIX motherboard, but i have one question about RAM:

I have 2 X KIT of 4x8GB (32GB Kit) Corsair Dominator Platinum for total amount of 64GB ( model number: CMD32GX4M4A2400C14 )

on the memory compatibility list of that MOBO, i see that (attach):


what is the correct reading about that?
i see triple DOT = 8 DIMM supported
BUT
i see model is ONLY 32GB kit (4x8) on the model number.

is that OK for 64GB or is MAXIMUM supported 32GB in 8 Dimm module? :confused:

i've been tested this week and ATM i've found that:


1- XMP switch OFF on Motherboard > cpu 4.3 v1.250 with 64GB 2133: rock solid full stable windows/games
2- XMP switch ON on Motherboard > crash in every situation with cpu 4.3 v.1.250
3- XMP swtich OFF on Motherboard but ON in bios > cpu 4.3 v1.250 with 64GB 2400 mhz on 2400 manually set in RAM option: Crash with stress test 1hour
4- XMP swtich OFF on Motherboard > but ON in bios PROFILE1 2400mhz 1.20 14-16-16-31 T2 > cpu 4.3 v1.250 with 64GB 2400 mhz on AUTO in RAM field: rock solid full test windows/games

i have to test same to point 4 , auto setting on RAM with XMP with PROFILE 2 2666MHZ 1.35 14-16-16-31 T2 ..

ATM i'm rock solid with 64GB 2133 manually set or 2400mhz XMP PROFILE 1bios settings (NO with XMP switch "ON" hardware on motherboard)

no way for 4.4 or 4.5 ghz on cpu ATM, but i don't have increased the 1.250 vcore... for you 4.4/4.5 cpu is possible with high voltage?

I have to say...I am a bit confused with the xmp "switch"

Xmp is enabled in BIOS. There is no morherboard switch. Can you just explain what you mean? Maybe I'm being dumb...

on the Strix X99 in the right corner below on the mobo, is present a SWITCH named XMP.

on the manual i check is :


but with this EZ XMP SWITCH ON i'm not able to take stability or speed like description :confused:

OK...so I'm being dumb 😮 didn't know that was there...

Not sure what to suggest apart from the obvious don't use it...if you are having trouble I'd stick to setting RAM up manually in BIOS. As I say, XMP is profile for single kit and will probably not apply to two kits...

with 2 kit and ONLY XMP on bios i'm currently stable on PROFILE1 2400mhz 14-16-16-31 like what i've been posted in the bottom position in previous post,
with switch ON is impossible to take rock solid in every situation and honestly i dunno what happen on motherboard settings with switch ON that instability.

i have to test 2666 mhz like PROFILE2 Corsair advice..

Hmmm...OK I get you...hard to know what to think....you'd have to set the different options and see what voltages they give in BIOS...see if something is different.

I don't know anything about that XMP switch and it's deployment....must be setting something different as opposed to XMP in BIOS?...

Not sure if you have got lucky...the 2 kits work XMP BIOS or if you are on the edge of stability....you'd just have to test further...maybe try HCI memtest...

i'm been solid with XMP PROF1 now.. not in PROF2 2666 i've to test that.
2 different kit working good, probably i'm lucky this moment 🙂
