Rampage V Extreme and Rampage V Edition 10 are far best X99 motherboards.
So much that I sorry for people who payed 500$ for other options.
I understand when someone could afford only cheapest mobo to build some platform with good CPU.
But spending 500$ when RVE price was 450$ because USB3.1 Gen 2 and lights was mistake.
Now is available USB 3.1 External HDD and no one probably have because price for 1TB USB3.1 WD could buy almost three 4TB USB 3.0 WD external HDD, 10-12TB in total storage USB 3.0. for 1TB USB 3.1 i love fast transfer, but for so big difference I will wait 5-10 seconds more.
That mean even with USB 3.1 I will invest in My Passport Ultra Metal (2017 13.5mm) 2TB USB 3.0 External + WD 4TB Black 256MB and price of two of them will be less than one My Passport 1TB USB 3.1.
I searched for Monoblock for my RVE and I was ready to pay 150e and than I recognize for 400 euro RVE10 + RGB Monoblock (nothing like that is launched ever, so beautiful and silver-black combination is by far best on market). After I sold my RVE that was free update on RVE10, only RGB Monoblock cost me.
But now is problem... i9-7900X is cheaper than i7-6900K and I want at least i7-5960X.
But replacing RVE10 is only possible with RVIE.
We can say X99 is nicer, X299 no thermal paste, but X299 with huge line of processor with 10-18 cores will serve years.
I mean they work on 4.6-4.7GHz, what could be problem. Improvements will be 20-25% for next generations. That's nothing, that's catchable with 2 more cores.
I'm very sorry if some people have problems with Rampage X99. I really had luck RVE served me 2.5 years.
Combination of hardware, impatience, bad luck, bad hardware sample influence to people get wrong experience sometimes.
I was scared when I bought RVE so much that I didn't to save 60euro and import from Hungary, I bought in my town, close to me because I expect to something happen.
But I was aware in same time that better not exist.
Now I plan to extend life time of X99 but price and availability of Broadwell-E or 8 core Haswell-E make me to worry.
Question is did I made mistake, maybe I could sell X99 before I upgrade board and buy Rampage VI Apex.
It's fact that now I would be without Monoblock and my pocket would be less for arround 400-500 euro.
I would be much happier to find some i7-5960X or later i7-6950X ES or OEM or something for cheap price.
But people want them , there is buyers for Broadwell-E I look Ebay, price reach higher price than new i7-7820X and i9-7900X.
Price of RVE10 is still over 350euro.
There is a lot people who now invest in RVE in good condition arround 180-200$ and buy i7-6850K for 200-220$. 16GB of 2666-3200MHz and Perfect for gaming.
Many of them still no confidence in AMD and Intel is somehow more secure for them.
