5960X on R5E

Hi my friends!
I know, this CPU and motherboard are quite old now,so many issues are known well.
I just wanted to ask all of you,who is using this set,to share your settings in bios for CPU freq and voltage,as well as cashe and system agent. Also your setup for RAM.
I am asking, because I do not want to damage some components(my new RIG is built for years).

My setup now is:
CPU:4000 at 1.15 (Could get 4500 at 1.26)
Cashe:4000 at 1.15
System Agent:1.05
RAM 2800 at 1.25V at 15-15-15-35-2T
CPU input is 1.88V

The rest is set on auto.

The thing is that my previous setup(Asus Striker Extreme with QX6700) is still working(10 years passed). There was only CPU and RAM voltages adjusted and it is still working without problems. On these new BIOS and motherboard I don’t know much.I don’t know safe maximum values for CPU(Would appreciate to get from you too).If you could be so kind, don’t throw stones at me,just type your setup,I will appreciate it very much!

Hi MikeAdu

That looks really good to me what you have and with nice low voltages.

Your cooling will determine how much further you can overclock, you could set the cpu core voltage anywhere from 1.30v up to 1.45v if temps allow. Get what you can out of the cores as that's where the most performance gain is, the cache is a minimal performance gain for the extra heat.

1.35v is about the highest for System Agent voltage and yours is great at 1.05v, you should only need to increase that if overclocking your ram.

Recommended by Intel, 1.50v is the max Dram voltage for DDR4, you can take Dram voltage to I.40v - 1.45v if needed.

It looks like you have a good overclocking 5960x, you can take stress testing temps up to 90c and for gaming no more than 70c - 75c.

the SA voltage used is about average for the processor and the memory frequency used. 1.35v would be ridiculous on this platform on an OC socket motherboard (which all ASUS boards are).

Hi Silent Scone

Yeah it depends on the cpu and speed/capacity if he'd need 1.35v for SA voltage, one with a weak IMC might. I've seen a few need that and a little more for 64GB 2800MHz, SA at 1.05v looks good for 32GB at 2800MHz.

I see in his specs it's listed as 3333MHz, he listed it as 2800MHz or this is just the current speed it's running at. The Rampage V Extreme supports up to 3300MHz and could possibly do 3333MHz with a BCLK adjustment, it could be a challenge to get there.

Thanks guys for answers!
Yes,my RAM is 3333,but for now I can get only 2800.I know there must be done something, but I think I will not gain much as I have now,but I would appreciate some instructions about RAM overclocking.I don’t go up much because of not knowing the max safe limits for my CPU and RAM.Tomorrow I will take a chance to get some more.I will let you all know.

Sure, I can try to help you get your ram to 3333MHz if you have the time or you want to set a time. What we'll do is continue from 2800MHz and see if we can hit 3000MHz and work it up from there.

What do you say ?

Nate, you are awesome! Thanks for your will to help me.
Let’s start from 2800/15-15-15-35.If something must be done before we got further just let me know,I will do this and will give you answers here.

Sure, this should be fun !

1) Set the AI Over clock Tuner to Manual and set the cpu strap to 100.
2) Scroll down to Dram Frequency and select 3000MHz.
3) Scroll down to Dram voltage and we'll start with 1.35v.
4) Set CPU Sytsem Agent volage to 1.20v.
5) Set CPU VCCIO voltage to 1.20v. (we may need to end up raising these a little more at higher frequencies)

Then go to Dram Timing Control and at the very top enter the first four primary timings.

F10 and Enter to Save and Exit.

How does she go ?

What is your local time now?

Ok sounds good

I should also mention, since you have such high speed ram if you should reset to defaults, get the ram set and then overclock your cpu.

It's 5:15pm here.
