128GB compatible without issues? F4-3000C14Q2-128GVRD or CMD128GX4M8A2666C15?

hi guys, I am about to purchase one of the two KITS below! will they work without issues and compatible with latest BIOS update?

RAM options:

    G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 128GB (8 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Intel X99 Extreme Performance F4-3000C14Q2-128GVRD

    CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 128GB (8 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Desktop Memory Model CMD128GX4M8A2666C15

...PS: for some reason the website with DRIVERS & TOOLS for R5E does not open, loads itself to death...nirvana!

Try a bump in VDIMM say 1.36...1.375 and try setting VCCSA to 1.25v (maybe as high as 1.3v)..if this boots try dropping VCCSA as far as you can. This high density and frequency will tax CPU IMC and CPU in general...maybe raise VCCIN to 1.9 or 1.92

In Digi+ section increase dram current capability 120% or 130% and set phasers on stun...I mean phases on optimised or extreme

Also for a 5930K I'd kind of recommend BIOS 2101 maybe..if other stuff fails...was a good BIOS for Haswell E

@Arne Saknussemm, problem is, that I have 2x left hands basically / know-how and what to do in the BIOS and geographical location I am currently at, doesn't help me get professional help, say in a store/ shop or IT place. so no idea what i need to do, so i figured look around and ask around for guidance and maybe in hopes of finding screenshots, step-by-step guide or video how to get this done in the BIOS. (since i also am not 100% comfortable working in the BIOS, as i always feel like i can damage something physically...with the settings.)

Clear CMOS

In Extreme Tweaker Tab

Set AI Overclock Tuner to "manual"

Set Dram frequency to 3000

Go into DRAM timing control and set primary timings for your RAM...( will look like 15-15-15-35 for example...read that off the sticks themselves leave the rest on auto)

Go into Digi+ and set DRAM current capability to 130% and phases to extreme for channels AB CD

Set CPU system agent voltage (vccsa) to 1.25
Set CPU input voltage (vccin) to 1.9v
Set DRAM voltage (vdimm) to 1.36 or 1.375 for AB/CD
Set CPU spread spectrum to disabled

F10 save and exit and see if that boots and if it is stable.

EDIT:

In Dram timing control you can also try setting "rampage tweak" at the top to "1"

hi Arne, i have now set 14-14-14-34, command rate=auto
then DRAM FREQUENCY = DDR4 3000

should i put for DRAM VOLTAGE (CHA, CHB) and DRAM VOLTAGE (CHC, CHD) = 1.35 ?

---> what is BCLK?

Yay!....LOL

Yep...and if that doesn't work try a bit more..like 1.36 1.365...1.375

BCLK is baseclock...you should not have to touch that...should be 100

just curious, even though Intel says my i7-5930k supports upto 64GB, the 128GB should work, yes? not sure if i understand how it all works, when CPU doesn't support more than 64GB...?

will test your post above and follow your instructions. many thanks and will update here with results.

Morning!

Yes 128GB can work. The problem is, Intel only guarantees 2133MHz. Anything else is OverClocking (XMP profiles etc) and high frequency and high density RAM you have to expect to tune and, in some cases, accept the CPU memory controller will not be capable...the silicon lottery.

Often, if you need large quantities of RAM for one of the niche use cases, it is better to go for lower frequency...like 2400MHz.

The Rampage Tweak setting I mentioned above relaxes secondary/tertiary timings...timing being sacrificed for frequency.

hi @Arne Saknussemm, I looked at the steps and details you told me, but couldn't see where and how to change, since some items and things were GRAY "blocked' not changeable.

see attached screenshots. thanks again for your help in advance Arne.

Is this after clearing CMOS? or setting F5 defaults

Maybe I'd recommend flashing BIOS 2101 BIOS flashback method...
