"will run x8 only." This is true, however, don't let anyone tell you what "you" need. Asus was misleading, even the manual and support tickets claimed there wasn't a x8 drop and you'd have x16. My extreme came brand new and looked like someone threw...
People don't use M.2_1 gen4 and a 4090 for full speed. Too many people with other platforms chiming in on something they don't own. Asus had some bad documentation in the manual.

Do you have a large video card near the PCH fan? My second video card was close enough the keep the fan from spinning. Didn't know until I located the fan and slightly pulled the card back.
