Interesting, I'll give it a try later. My machine has started to have the flickering screen at the bottom so I think it's going to have to go back anyway.
On the RAM specs, ASUS's own ram is the most nasty cheap generic 4800Mhz rubbish they could lay their hands on, so... any 4800Mhz 2x8 kit should do. It's pathetic you now need to go buy inferior RAM just because ASUS support and BIOS people don't do ...
I did, I thought maybe after the update they would be slowed down to 4800, but miracle of miracles, it's still at 5600! It does however mean that ASUS needs to add a label to their laptops of "RAM Must be removed and old ram replaced for BIOS upgrade...
As an update, I put back in my original 4800Mhz 2x8Gig sticks of ram after removing my Crucial 5600Mhz 2x16Gig modules and the 308 BIOS update worked, so... if you want to be able to update your laptop, keep your old ram and have a screwdriver handy....
