Just make sure not to use abrasive chemicals. i have seen a laptop be wiped with a lysol wipe and it took out the paint. head to your local electronics store and pick up laptop/computer specific wipes.

It could be that they are cooling two seperate components and they run at variable speeds. Try a bios update using the EZ flash utility in the bios boot menu. You can download the latest bios version on the support page. unzip it and put it on a usb....
