1. Toothpaste

Toothpaste is an effective do-it-yourself scratch remover because it contains small abrasive particles that can "smooth out" surface scratches. It will smooth out the surface of your laptop and reduce the appearance of scratches. However, if the body of your laptop has a matte finish, it may shine through the shiny area, so be careful.

Wipe the laptop with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust.

Try toothpaste on a small, inconspicuous part of your laptop because it may not be suitable for laptops with certain glossy or protective coatings.

If you are sure, apply small clusters of toothpaste to the affected area.

Use a soft, damp cloth to rub the toothpaste over the scratch in gentle circular motions.

Rub until the scratch disappears. Remember to be gentle because too much pressure can cause more damage.

Use a clean damp cloth to remove the toothpaste.

Dry the wet area with a dry, lint-free cloth.

2. Baking soda and lemon juice

Like toothpaste, baking soda is another abrasive that could be great for polishing scratches. In fact, if you mix it with equal parts water, it could be a great way to remove stains or delaminations from the screen .

To remove stains on the body of your laptop, you should mix baking soda with a little lemon juice. Lemon juice has acidic properties that might be helpful in dissolving some kinds of surface imperfections.

However, acid is generally not suitable for metal because of corrosion. You can reduce the acidity by mixing lemon juice with some water and adding baking soda in a 1:1:1 ratio. Mix the three until a fine paste is formed.

Wipe the area with a damp cloth and test the paste on an inconspicuous area first.

Use a cotton ball to dab the paste on the scratched area.

Gently rub the paste in a circular fashion into the scratched area using a soft cloth or cotton ball. Be careful not to use too much pressure.

Let it sit for about 5 minutes.

Wipe it off with a clean damp cloth.

Dry the wet spot with a lint-free cloth.

If you feel uncomfortable using lemon juice because of its acidity, you can simply use water or find a non-acidic electronic device cleaner.

If the body of your laptop is plastic and the scratch is not deep, you can use a plastic polish to polish the scratch.

Follow the steps below:
Use a damp cloth to clean the affected area first, then wipe it dry.
Add plastic polish to the affected area and rub it gently in a circular motion with a clean cloth. Continue until the scratch fades.

Get a new microfiber cloth and use it to dry the area.

For major scratches on laptops made of metal (especially aluminum), you can use a metal polish to hide them. The effectiveness varies depending on the depth of the scratch.

Here's how to do it:

Clean the affected area and gently apply metal polishing paste directly to the deep scratch.

Apply the polish and rub as needed until it covers the scratch and "fills in" it.
Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Use a microfiber cloth to remove excess polish on the outside of the scratch.
You can also apply metal polish to the rest of your laptop; it has a protective coating that can help prevent scratches in the future.

3. Magic Eraser

The familiar name, Magic Eraser, can also come in handy for removing scratches from the body of your laptop. As long as your laptop does not have a special coating, you can safely use it on any plastic or metal surface. This micro-washing abrasive sponge works like a kind of sandpaper that can smooth out scratches.

Here's how you should use it:
Cut out a reasonable amount of magic eraser and moisten it slightly. Be careful not to get the sponge too wet.
Gently rub the magic eraser over the scratched surface in a circular motion. Do not apply too much pressure.
Rub until the scratch disappears.
Use a clean damp cloth to remove the residue.
Dry the surface with an absorbent microfiber cloth.
Magic Eraser is a great way to scratch the surface, but be careful not to "sand" too much off your laptop.
