Issue with Fans Running at High Speed After Sleep Mode on ASUS TUF Gaming A15

Hello,

I recently purchased a new ASUS TUF Gaming A15 with a Ryzen 9 8945H, RTX 4070, and 32GB DDR5 RAM 5600, and I'm facing a significant issue with the sleep mode and fans. Quite often, when the laptop goes into sleep mode, the fans randomly start spinning at around 4000-4500 RPM, which is really annoying. I’ve checked the temperatures before sleep, and they’re around 30-35°C, but the issue still occurs. Any idea on how to fix this? I’m running Windows 11 24H2 with all the latest updates, including graphics drivers, BIOS, and chipset drivers, and everything in MyASUS is up to date.

After installing G-Helper and stopping all ASUS services, the issue seems to be resolved, but I don't want to disable all ASUS services. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I even tried reinstalling Windows, but the problem persists.

It sounds like you've already done a lot to troubleshoot, but the issue seems to be related to the ASUS software or power management settings, which can sometimes cause fans to spin unnecessarily after sleep mode.

Here are a few suggestions to help resolve the issue without disabling all ASUS services:

1. Adjust Power Settings in Windows

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options and ensure you're using the Balanced power plan. If you're on a custom or high-performance plan, try switching to Balanced and see if it resolves the issue.
  • In Advanced Power Settings, check the Processor power management and set the Minimum processor state to 5% and Maximum processor state to 100%. This could help with cooling and fan control during idle periods.

2. Update ASUS Software and Services

  • Even though you mentioned MyASUS is up to date, try uninstalling and reinstalling Armoury Crate, MyASUS, and ASUS System Control Interface (SCI), as sometimes these software tools may cause conflicts.
  • If you haven't already, try disabling the "Fan Profile" or "Turbo Mode" in Armoury Crate to see if it helps.

3. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

  • Double-check the BIOS settings related to fan control, thermal management, and power settings. In some laptops, there might be options to control whether fans keep spinning after sleep.
  • If your BIOS has a fan behavior option for sleep (sometimes under Advanced or Power settings), experiment with changing it from "Aggressive" or "Auto" to a quieter setting like "Silent" or "Normal."

4. Disable Fast Startup

  • Fast Startup can cause issues with sleep mode on some laptops. Try disabling it:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
    2. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    3. Under Shutdown settings, uncheck Turn on fast startup and save.

5. Update Chipset and Fan Firmware

  • Even though you mentioned your drivers are up to date, ensure that the chipset driver specifically handles power management and that there are no outstanding updates. Sometimes, manufacturers release fixes for hardware quirks like fan behavior post-sleep.
  • Check if there are any firmware updates for your fans or power system, which may not necessarily be listed under regular BIOS updates.

6. Monitor Using Task Manager

  • Open Task Manager and monitor processes that are running after sleep mode. Sometimes, background tasks or processes can trigger fan behavior. If you notice something unusual or resource-heavy, it could be affecting your fan's behavior.

7. Test with a Clean Boot

  • Perform a clean boot in Windows to see if the issue persists with minimal background processes. This can help isolate if a specific service or application is causing the fan to spin after sleep.
    • Type msconfig in the start menu search bar and hit Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable All.
    • Under the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager and disable unnecessary startup items.
    • Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.

By trying these steps, you should hopefully narrow down the source of the problem and find a solution that doesn't require completely disabling ASUS software. Let me know how it goes!

Other Personally Recommended Safe Ways are:

1. Contact customer care and have a service.

2. Instead of Sleep, use Hibernate mode if possible (You need to enable it, see steps on internet).
