So this happened after I had just done a fresh installation of windows, skipped Armoury Crate and installed g-helper instead.
I was using the laptop unplugged for quite some time, after which I decided to plug it in and play a game.
I switched to Turbo Mode, and during gaming i noticed that the CPU clock speed was stuck at a specific frequency. Then I quit the game and opened the task manager, but the CPU was functioning normally, reaching around 3-3.5 GHZ frequency.
I then ran Cinebench Stress test, and during the stress test again I noticed that the CPU was stuck at around 38% usage or 1400 GHz without any increase or decrease. Midway in the stress-testm I unplugged the charger from the laptop and immediately plugged it back in, after which again the CPU started clocking higher and reached 100% usage during the same stress test.
I made sure all power profile related settings were set to default and ran CineBench again, same problem After that I:
1.Installed fresh windows 3 times, installed all armoury crate software and firmware
2.Flashed Bios version 302 from Asus website
but the problem is persisting.
From my testing I am able to conclude that when I boot the laptop from battery (charger unplugged), and then plug in the charger after it has booted, the CPU will get stuck at 48% or 1400 GHz frequency during heavy tasks like gaming or stress testing, but functions normally and reached high clock speeds in idle or light tasks, which makes me think of it as a power draw related issue.
I DO NOT FACE any such issue if I boot the laptop with the charger already plugged in before pressing the power button.
Please help!!!!
