My son has a A17 (FA707R) and is experiencing some very weird issues. I'm a I.T. tech of 30+yrs, so as a dad would do, 'I got this son!"
So, the system will randomly give a BSOD. It's never in the same spot, could be during boot, or after login.
Thinking it may be HD related, I have removed drives one-by-one (it has a 2nd NVmE) , and get BSODs on each, again random.
I removed both HDs and booted from a fresh recovery USB. Got the BSOD. At this point I'm thinking RAM, so luckily his brother has an identical A17, bought at the same time as this one. So, I took his RAM from laptop and swapped it with the troubled laptop. Still get BSODs, even with the brother's RAM.
Now I'm thinking power. So I disconnected the battery completely, powered from AC only. Still got BSOD.
I've gone as far as to re-flash the BIOS with version 315. No difference. Checked the motherboard for corrosion, looks clean.
Currently I'm creating a USB bootable hardware diag stick, non-windows based, and seeing if I can find any hints there.. Usually, troubleshooting down the path will steer you one way or another as you hit dead ends. Here, it seems every path is a dead end. I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
