Hello,
I'm looking for help with a persistent fan issue on my Asus TUF FX505DV.
The Problem:
Shortly after startup, both my CPU and GPU fans ramp up to maximum speed.
The CPU fan gets stuck at 100% and never slows down.
The GPU fan sometimes slows down for a moment but then immediately goes back to 100%.
Software reports a bugged, impossible RPM value (over 50 million RPM) for the fans.
What I've already tried:
My BIOS is fully updated to the latest version.
I have performed multiple EC resets (60-second power button hold).
I have done a complete, clean reinstallation of all ASUS software (Armoury Crate).
The issue still happens even when using alternative software.
Since both fans are malfunctioning, this points to a larger problem with the Embedded Controller (EC) firmware or the main system BIOS that manages it.
Has anyone found a permanent fix for this? Would re-flashing the current BIOS version be the best way to repair a corrupt EC firmware?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Additional :
I should also add that I have been dealing with this problem for 4 years, since the day I bought this laptop.
The issue is very intermittent; the laptop can work perfectly for 3-4 months, and then the problem suddenly returns. The laptop's maintenance is regularly done (cleaning, thermal paste), so it is not a thermal issue.
Most critically, the laptop was previously sent to an authorized service center for this exact issue. They replaced the entire motherboard, but after a few months of working fine, the same problem came back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
