Composite/AV to HDMI converter will not work on ASUS pb287Q or pb278q

I am trying to connect a TurboGrafx 16 to an Asus PB287Q monitor using a Portta AV to HDMI adapter which has 2 input settings: S-video and CVAS. The TurboGrafx would normally use the CVAS setting (Red White Yellow plugs).

When I turn on the system, I only get a blank screen for CVAS. When I change the setting on the Portta converter to "S-Video", I get sound but no video. When I try to connect the yellow compsite to the S-video using another adapter, the screen flickers as if video is being detected, but the sound cuts out and then the screen remains black. https://i.imgur.com/BnHY53P.jpg

The converter works on an HDMI port on a TV, so I don't think any of the cables are bad, but I cannot figure out why it won't put video on my monitor, is there something different between a TV HDMI and the monitor HDMI?

Hey peasantb,

This forum is for the Rog Swfit (PG278Q). The Swift only has the DP input. Another forum might have a better chance of being able to help you. Though there might be someone on here that has used the PB287Q.
