As different keyboard form factors evolved, so too did the placement of multi-function controls. The first time we shifted them to the left side was with the ROG Flare in 2018, which introduced a scroll wheel above the ESC key. This design gave players quicker access to adjustments without reaching across the keyboard.
Building on that idea, the Falchion and Falchion Ace introduced a touch panel along the left side of the keyboard, creating a compact control system that kept the right side clear for mouse movement. For the next generation, the Falchion RX Low Profile and Falchion Ace HFX, we refined this further by moving the touch panel to the top-left edge, keeping touchpad controls accessible and more intuitive. In parallel, the Flare II carried forward the original Flare’s scroll wheel in the top-left position, ensuring consistency across the series while offering more precise control.
The ROG Falcata continues this evolution with a multi-function wheel (Multiwheel) positioned on the top-left side. This new design combines the accessibility of the Flare’s scroll wheel with the compact philosophy of the Falchion, while also keeping the keyboard’s top edge clean to maximize wireless connectivity. Most importantly, it allows for finer, real-time precision than ever before, enabling 0.1 mm per-step adjustments compared to the Falchion’s 0.5 mm increments.
The Falcata allows you to tune its most essential settings on-the-fly, including system volume, media control, keyboard lighting brightness, rapid trigger sensitivity, actuation point, and one according to your needs.
Press the Multi-Function Button to cycle between these settings on the left panel, and adjust the setting by scrolling the Multiwheel. All settings are saved in real time to the active profile in the keyboard’s onboard memory.
The tactility of the Multiwheel allows for precision tuning feedback, such as actuation point customization in steps of 0.1mm without relying on LED indicators. Pair that with the Multiwheel's new position on the keyboard, it would be difficult to accidentally trigger without intent.
*Helpful Tip: the Multiwheel can also be clicked for an additional input. The table below explains the input of all gestures. Save the image below for quick referencing.
Fine-Tune On-The-Fly to Optimize Speed
Beyond the common but essential quick-access features such as volume control, the Falcata adds advanced controls so you don't have to hop out of games and open up software to make changes. To optimize the general responsiveness of the Falctata, simply use the Multi-Function Button to switch to Actuation Point Adjustment Mode, all the key LEDs will turn off to signify the global setting is about to be adjusted, so every key will be affected.
Adjusting the global setting is simple, slide the Multiwheel to fine-tune - left to decrease the distance (faster actuation), right to increase (prevents accidental presses). Press to click the Multiwheel or wait for a few seconds for the new setting to apply. Now a new actuation point is locked in for all the keys. The idea is to have a comfortable typing experience for everyday use where the actuation point is responsive yet not overly sensitive, otherwise it may lead to typos.
Where you want to be aggressive is Rapid Trigger for ultra-responsive gaming. The procedure for fine-tuning the Rapid Trigger sensitivity is the same as actuation point adjustments, use the Multi-Function Button to switch to RT Sensitivity Adjustment Mode, the affected keys will be shown first (WASD by default), fine-tune with the Multiwheel, then confirm.
Whether you want more personalized settings for adjusting the actuation point or Rapid Trigger sensitivity for each individual key (one at a time only), it can be done by pressing the Multiwheel Button (to enable Per-Key Settings Mode) then selecting the key before you start fine-tuning.
*Helpful Tip: Take full advantage of ROG's HFX v2 switches, you can tune Actuation Points and Rapid Trigger in steps of 0.01mm in the Gear Link web-app.
The LEDs below the button and wheel serve as a live visual aid to reflect adjustments to actuation point or Rapid Trigger sensitivity. The LED bars can indicate absolute values for these settings.
For Actuation Point and Rapid Trigger sensitivity adjustment, each small bar on the LED represents 0.1mm:
| Illustration | Bar size | Represented value |
| 1 mini bar | 0.1mm | |
| 1 large bar | 1.0mm | |
| 2 large bars | 2.0mm | |
| 3 large bars | 3.0mm |
Example:
= 2 large bars + 3 mini bars = 2.3mm
The same logic applies to make it easy to understand where the global actuation and rapid trigger points are while tuning, or simply access the web app, Gear Link, to check on a UI.
Starting with the Falcata, you can also skip the hassle of installing additional software and access the settings interface for more intuitive adjustments straight from your browser with Gear Link.

The Multiwheel is built to simplify adjustments in both gaming and daily use. In fast-paced FPS titles, it lets you fine-tune rapid trigger sensitivity or actuation points mid-match so every keystroke responds as intended, while in MOBAs, MMOs, or slower-paced genres it helps balance precision with speed. Outside of gaming, the same wheel acts as a hub for everyday controls like media playback, volume, or keyboard brightness, so you can stay focused on your task without leaving the moment.
*Helpful Tip: you can take advantage of different profiles to save your settings, and switch between each instantly via hotkeys or on Gear Link.
Ultimately, this ease of use reflects the ROG Falcata’s mission: combining ergonomic design, wireless performance, and advanced Hall effect technology with an interface that keeps everything intuitive. Together with the Gear Link web app, which lets you manage profiles and settings straight from your browser, the Falcata becomes more than a split Hall effect keyboard. It’s a keyboard that adapts seamlessly to both competitive play and everyday tasks, giving you precise, accessible control that’s always within reach.
