When you press two keys of the opposite direction at the same time, such as A and D (left and right), by default, this results in a null (cancelling) input and stops your character movement.

This can cause unintended movement delays in quick strafing in Valorant, Overwatch, and other competitive shooter games, and can mean the difference between life or death in duels. Fighting games may also require accurate successive keystrokes for successful combos.

* Always check to make sure such a function is permitted when playing online or competitively.

Speed Tap provides more consistent outcomes, by always prioritizing the last keypress, bypassing the default null input outcome and making strafing feel smoother.

Without Speed Tap

The avatar stops when both keys are pressed and won’t move until there is only one input.

Speed Tap On

Speed Tap prioritizes the new input, overriding the previous keystroke, ensuring almost no movement delay.

Helpful tip:  Combine Speed Tap with Rapid Trigger to achieve the smoothest and fastest strafing in fast-paced shooter games.

Speed Tap removes the potential for SOCD movement error where a character will stay still for longer than intended. This means that there is only ever a split moment where the character will stand still before moving againYou should practice with Speed Tap to balance between fluid strafing and maintaining weapon accuracy due to the increased mobility.

Helpful tip: Upon toggling, the Speed Tap keys (A and D) will illuminate white to indicate Speed Tap ON and red to indicate Speed Tap OFF.

Helpful tip: While Speed Tap helps me move in games more smoothly, I am more used to the default effect when typing. This is why I only have it enabled for my gaming profile and not for my productivity profile, so I don’t have to manually turn Speed Tap on and off. Try creating your own profiles so that all the keys can change and do exactly what you want, when you want.
