Tuning your DPI mid-game usually means breaking focus – alt-tabbing, launching software, or cycling through presets until it feels right. With DPI On-The-Scroll, available in supported ROG gaming mice, that friction is gone. This feature lets you fine-tune your DPI in real time, using just the scroll wheel, no software required.
Whether you're an FPS gamer dialing in pixel-perfect aim, an RTS player adjusting camera speed, or even a creative professional who needs smoother control across high-resolution monitors, DPI On-The-Scroll gives you fast and precise adjustment on the fly, on your terms.
This guide will walk you through its key uses, how to activate it, and why it can become your new secret weapon for responsiveness and control.
How It Works: Quick Overview
DPI On-The-Scroll allows you to adjust your mouse sensitivity directly using the scroll wheel. To activate it:
1. Press and hold the DPI button for 3 seconds. The scroll wheel will blink and enter static blue light mode.

2. Scroll up or down to increase or decrease the DPI in 50 DPI steps. You can test and feel the change during this stage to decide what is optimal.

*Helpful tip: The scroll wheel’s LED color will shift along a gradient (blue→green→yellow→red) to indicate your current DPI level: ranging from 100 up to 42,000 DPI.

3. Press the DPI button again to lock in your chosen setting.
This feature is available for most ROG mice, including the Harpe series, Keris series, Gladius III Wireless Aimpoint, Chakram series, Spatha X, and Pugio II.
DPI On-The-Scroll is ideal for situations where you need to adjust your mouse sensitivity mid-task without exiting your game or application. In FPS games, you can slow down DPI for sniping or increase it when switching to fast-paced weapons. In RTS or MMO games, it’s useful for toggling between precise UI control and faster camera movement. Even in productivity and creative workflows, DPI On-The-Scroll helps when switching between pixel-level precision (like editing) and broad screen navigation on large or multi-monitor setups.
Bringing fluid and real-time control to your mouse sensitivity right from the scroll wheel, it gives you the ability to adapt on the spot without interrupting your flow. No software. No alt-tabbing. Just scroll, feel, and lock it in.
