If you are experiencing performance issues with your NVMe drives (e.g. low write performance), please ensure that the Alteration PCIe Mode switch is set to its default state. This switch on your motherboard allows you to toggle the PCIe signal between Gen4 and Gen3 to help with debugging. If the switch accidentally moved from the default Auto position, it may impact performance depending on the make and model of the drive.

Default Setting:

  • Auto (Default): PCIe signal will be in the default setting.

Other Settings:

  • 1st Step: PCIe signal will be Gen4, indicated by LED1 lighting up green.
  • 2nd Step: PCIe signal will be Gen3, indicated by LED2 lighting up yellow.
