Bought a new Zephyrus G14 GA403UI (2024) and happily brought it into work with the intention of using the trusty HP Essential G5 UBS C dock that I've always used with both my work-provided HP laptop and my personal "old" Zephyrus G14 (2021). Unfortunately on the new laptop, the dock does not work on the left charging USB C port. Only the right port that does not charge does a display and keyboard work. I did not upgrade my device expecting to lose basic functionality.
I have not seen any useful troubleshooting to do from either HP or Asus. Asus customer support only allowed me to phone the retail store! WTF.
I don't understand why the left USB4 port does not work properly.
The dock has the latest (May 2024) firmware.
Having extreme buyer remorse about this problem and lack of support from Asus.

Update: I stopped by a random drop-in desk at work and this HP Essential G5 dock, works on the USB4 port. It Even trickle charges. I don't know what to say other than it can now be said, that the USB4 port has worked once. Still never had issues with the Zephyrus G14 (2021) model.
