What does the color of the LED next to the Multiwheel mean

ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703HR. I have my multiwheel configured for volume control. When the volume is turned up, the LED gets brighter and conversely. My question is sometimes the LED is blue and sometimes it is red. This is independent of keyboard lighting in Aura Creator or Armory Crate. Anyone have a clue?

I've been watching this for a while and noticed that the LED color varies according to the Windows desktop theme. My current theme makes all the slider bars for volume and brightness and radio button selections a bright green, and the LED is green and will brighten and dim with changes in audio volume.
