Subject: Display Flickering and Dim Issue on ASUS G16 GU605MI (Intel & IPS Panel, 240Hz,4070)

Dear ASUS Support Team,

I am writing to report an ongoing issue with my ASUS GU605MI laptop. I have encountered a display problem that appears when I increase the brightness or plug in the charger. The symptoms are as follows:

One side of the screen becomes dim/black when increasing brightness.
Flickering occurs when the charger is plugged in, and this issue worsens with higher brightness settings.
System Information:
Model: ASUS GU605MI
Display: IPS panel, 240Hz
Graphics: Intel (Integrated graphics)
OS: [Windows version]
I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists:

Updated all graphics drivers from the official ASUS website.
Reset and reinstalled drivers.
Checked power management settings, including disabling adaptive brightness.
Ensured that the laptop is running on the High Performance power plan.
Verified that the issue occurs only when at higher brightness levels. with power connected and not connected 
Despite these efforts, the problem remains unresolved.

Could you please provide further troubleshooting steps, or inform me if this could be a hardware issue? I would appreciate guidance on how to resolve this as soon as possible, as it significantly affects my user experience.

Update on my Zephyrus G16 (2024) – Backlight issue & service experience

Just wanted to share my experience so far with my Zephyrus G16 GU605MI (2024). I’ve been dealing with a really annoying backlight issue, and here’s everything that’s happened till now:

  • Bought the laptop brand new, and after a few days, the backlight started failing randomly — screen would go dark but the laptop stays on.

  • Gave it to the service center (it’s under warranty), and they said it’s a display issue — so they replaced the screen.

  • Waited about 2 weeks for the screen replacement… got it back, and the issue still wasn’t fixed 😐

  • Now they’re saying it’s a motherboard problem, and I have to wait another week for them to replace that too.

  • I asked for a new unit but they said they can’t give a replacement, only repair. They told me the first motherboard replacement should fix it — but didn’t guarantee anything beyond that.

It’s been frustrating because I’ve basically not had my laptop for 3 weeks now. They said if the issue persists after the motherboard replacement, they’ll check again, but still no word about a replacement.

The laptop itself is awesome otherwise — display is great for gaming and daily use. But yeah, I’ve gone through this whole wait-repair-wait loop and I’m still not sure if it’ll be fully fixed.

Has anyone else faced something similar with the G16? Especially with backlight or motherboard issues?
Would appreciate hearing how it went for others — and if anyone actually got a unit replaced after repeated issues.

Will update again after I get it back post-motherboard change.
