Speakers under water issue. Yes I know, not the first to write about this, but I'm desperate.

Yes I know, not the first to write about sound, but I cannot manage to find a similar issue on the forum. Recently bought the G16 with the Rayzen AI 9 and Win 11 on it. Since I got it the sound is horrible. It sounds like it is underwater or high pitched. It reacts to the volume change, but even at 100% it is veery low. I know that it shouldn't sound so bad, but I tried everything with no success. The speakers are boosted to 100% in sound settings and in mixer, I checked for driver updates in general on windows and for realtek separately and everything is installed in the latest version. Maybe someone can give me some suggestions or direct me in another thread where this issue was already discussed. I would appreciate that a lot as I'm starting to get desperate with the limited time (14 days) before I have to send it back

try downgrading windows to 10 1903 or installing old Realtek R281 drivers. if it fixes, then install windows 11 again.

find mod drivers for your audio chip

they have patched dolby, install the original from asus on top of it and the sound is fixed

(example of working drivers on G814JV)

https://opendir.samicrusader.me/drivers/realtek%2Bsb-h4czilla/drivers/

1) driver mode ISST to HDA

Intel® Smart Sound Technology BUS > High Definition Audio Controller

2)

realtek.hd.sound.driver-patch +

0006-Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R280.exe

0007-Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R281.exe

0008-Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R282.exe

Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R283.exe

***

and deselect ALL settings / loudness equalizer / 44100Hz 24bit / disable noise settings

3) (example drivers, you have for Zephyrus own)

AUDIO_Realtek_UAD_ASUS_ROG-TUF_NB-DT_v6.0.8975.1

Audio_DriverOnly_Dolby_DCH_Realtek_J_V6.0.9768.1_41645.exe

SmartAMP_Cirrus_DCH_ROG_Cirrus_J_V23.26.47.760_34695.exe

ISST install manually from MS directory (powershell extract .cab)

in some cases, MS drivers (Servicing Drivers) have a digital signature, which helps to bypass ASUS driver bugs. The release date of the drivers is closer to the production date of your board.

maybe this is too much information for you, it is not an easy way to reinstall over ~50gb of drivers, but believe me, I was able to fix the left-right sound balance, all that remains is to overcome the maximum volume limit. I suspect that this cannot be fixed without a modified BIOS. We as consumers are forced to be smarter than large scam corporations 😄

Oh, maybe it's much simpler! check in Realtek Audio Console, if disabling AI Denoise fixes it? You need to try factory image and hard reset. There are endless audio errors in asus.
