Inconsistency with optimus hard switching to dedicated graphics

Hello all!

I have a zephyrus gx703hs and It's amazing but sometimes when I launch a game, I'll hear the windows sounds for the GPU connecting and it will switch to the GPU and i'll see this reflected in task manager everything using GPU 1 now instead of GPU 2. But sometimes I'll launch the SAME game and it will not make any sound change and what I see is everything still using GPU 0 (built in) but ALSO using the dedicated graphics, then in task manager the game will swap between saying GPU 0 and GPU - 1 - COPY. This is a significant loss in performance, games like WoW I'll notice 10-12FPS improvement when I force it to use just the dedicated GPU vs when passing through the integrated, its like the Auto Switch does not work in NVIDIA display modes and so manually switching works, auto switching I can't find a way to make this work consistently. Anyone else experience this or know the fix?

Do you have the latest drivers from the ASUS support page? Both Intel and Nvidia? Those would be the latest drivers actually validated by ASUS.

According to armoury crate and myasus yes as well as latest nvidia drivers and version of geforce experience. This appears to be the "manage display mode" setting in nvidia control panel when automatic should switch between them when I launch something with the "Automatic display switching" turned on for a specific app or game and the automatic part does not work. If I manually switch it with the optional nvidia tray icon it works just never auto switches as it should

If you are getting drivers from Geforce experience then those would not be the latest drivers from ASUS. I would try rolling back to the latest ASUS drivers and see if those behave any better.
