Check with CPU-Z how much RAM you have. If it says 24gb, it means you have the 8gb soldered on the motherboard + the 16gb ram stick. The crucial site is inaccurate for the first models (GX501). If you want to upgrade you need a single ram stick, either 16 or 32gb stick, I found this from newegg but I am not sure if it will work https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-260-pin-ddr4-so-dimm/p/N82E16820236593 hope that helped

I own a GX501GI and it has been going great for > 2 years now but I need to increase RAM - I have been thinking of replacing the 8GB slot with some 16GB one (Crucial) but that means I will likely loose dual-channel (which CPU-Z reports with the 2x8GB now) - Am assuming this will have some performance impact on gaming and wanted to find out if anyone has done it and verified performance - am not sure of how much of a performance drop (~10-20% ballpark??). Any feedback appreciated. Thanks
