Hi All,
First post here. Generally Im not in need of assistance with these sorts of things, but this one is a hard one for me.
So I just bought a GU501 from Best Buy and really like it. I recently ran into some issues and had to reinstall. Mostly my doing, but I have never had a problem in the past with installing software.
So, my first mistake was not realizing that there was a recover partition. My second mistake was formatting it when I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO from MS and installed it.
I have 2 issues.
1. I got most of the hardware drivers installed, but I cant seem to get the touchpad driver to install. I try running the install for both the precision and normal drivers:
PrecisionTouchpad_ASUS_CFL_W10_64_V110025
Touchpad_V110025
But when it get to the end, I get an error that says there was a windows problem that prevented files from installing... And still no touchpad. A regular mouse works fine, however.
There are no issues with the hardware manager that I can see and I tried troubleshooting though Windows without success.
This DID work when I brought it home from Best Buy.
2. There is no Windows activation key on the laptop. Unlike other Asus laptops I have purchased in the past, this laptop doesnt have a reinstall key. How can I get this, or do I have to pat $100 for another license because I deleted the original recover partition?
Thanks so much for you time and assistance. Please let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks!
Joe
