The component was fried and disintegrated when I poked it. There were loose peices of copper ect in the component so I've kept it in place with thermal putty.
The weird thing is the laptop still works, even with the 240v plugged in, though I have to keep it on silent mode on G-Helper.
Does anyone know, if I send it to Asus RMA, will they just tell me its a ££££ motherboard replacement? I don't fancy spending £££ to find that out 😕
Thank in advance.

Not sure. E-mail support (customerloyalty@asus.com) might be able to give you a price estimate for the repair if you attach those pictures. Or maybe ask a third party repair shop for a repair price estimate.
