MYASUS, brought up a new sound driver the other day (V6.0.9738.1). After installing it, it broke the volume slider in windows. Meaning: Its either 100% volume, or Muted, nothing in between.
Had to revert back to 9715.
I downloaded 9738 from asus support website, thinking maybe re-installing it manually would fix. It didn't.
I chose to "uninstall device" Realtek Audio, and check the box to delete the driver.
After rebooting, it re-installed 9715, and all is well.
I checked back today, and 9738 has been removed from the asus driver page for my model, but sadly, its still showing available in My Asus.
BEWARE!!

having the same issue on my GU605MI with the newest Realtek audio driver update, however even after I got different clean versions reinstalled, I still get no sound (or only a couple of seconds) when connected with wired headphones.
any help please?

This driver completely screwed up the audio on my laptop, even after uninstalling and removing the driver. I had to resort to reverting to an older Windows System Restore point to get my audio working again.

I also had longer term issues, where sound stayed broken or borked that I couldn't find a solution for. I ended up being more drastic, and going the asus cloud restore route (I have no data on this laptop, that isn't cloud backed up, so just as easy to wipe and start over. Interestingly, after wiping it, all was well, my asus didn't bring up this driver any longer, and all is well for me.

When I was looking for a solution to the problem, I came across this post post. There 's a section "Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG/TUF/PRIME/ProArt RTK)" where I downloaded the sound drivers.
The installation failed and Windows downloaded and installed all the drivers from the 'Audio and gaming audio devices" section in the device manager. After the reboot, I also installed Intel SST driver from MyASUS app.
Everything has been working well since then, maybe my difficult path will help someone 🙂

OMG! This work for me, I have 4 days dealing with this problem after updating from My Asus App, I have a Asus ROG G16 GU605MI. This small tutorial works because the installation of this driver failed the driver of the post you mention, when you install and restart the installation roll out the drivers for compatibility issues, so is just close and open Windows Update, check updates for the system and then everything apear to install all the drivers necessary, then Sound is back like magic. For me the Driver that works fine is Realtek Audio v6.0.9601.1 from 11/7/2023 that windows install. Thanks a lot ximyl!.
