Hello, I have two external cases for m.2 ssd died the other day (orico on Realtek RTL9210B controller and Lexar 300E on Realtek RTL9210) - controller burned out when connected to asus rog strix zephyrus m16 2022.
The cases worked fine on my PC and macbook - on PC I connected to usb-a (3.2 gen1), on macbook to usb-c. When connected to asus via usb-c or another thunderbolt 4 port, external monitor and windows start beeping and flashing, there is a smell of burnt textolite, when disassembling the case there is a burn point on the controller. The disk itself survived, but when repeating the operation with another case, the situation repeated itself. I searched in the settings of asus applications, in the bios - I didn't find any settings responsible for the mode of killing external disks (or I overlooked them). When connecting the third case via usb-a everything works ok. At the same time through thunderbolt port and usb-c port the device can be charged, also sometimes I connect an external monitor with hub through them - works fine.
Maybe someone has thoughts how to fix connection of external devices to usb-c/thunderbolt ports of my m16 ?
