Windows Creator Update Installation Failure on GL502VS - workaround

Has anyone faced any issues installing the New windows Creator Update on their GL502VS.
It gets stuck at BIOS when it restart. And then roles back to the old version

This is the error i see
0xC1900101 - 0x20017 Installation failed during safe OS phase with an error during boot operation'
Help please?

Can you confirm you disabled those devices from BIOS or Windows Device Manager? I have tried to disable them from BIOS but the result is bad.

For the latest Nvidia driver, you should NOT download 381.65 instead use 378.92 you should be fine.

i Disabled the devices from Bios.. And did a clean windows installed ... I downloaded the new windows 10 with creator update using the media tool.
Its works ... But as you said only the 378.92 driver only works ....

For your information. Nvidia driver has nothing to do with ASUS. If you do clean windows install, I don't think you need to disable those devices. Do you need another windows license?

Based on the finding so far, I believe it is the ASUS compatibility issue with Windows upgrade. Hopefully there wil be a fix, I have already logged a ticket with ASUS.

I have the same problem with my asus machine. CU installed just fine on a Dell i7559 with NVidia GTX 960m and an older HP laptop. Maybe the problem is related to specific driver from ASUS like ATK or card reader or something like that. If you have any news please let us know.

I have tried uninstalling ASUS software and drivers, it did not install CU successfully. I believe that is related to the windows image or recovery partition ASUS has made in this machine.

I got the same issue as well. Both NVidia and Window's creator update.
Cant install the latest Nvidia, and failing to install the windows. Have to download the windows update again for another try.

The trouble you have could somewhat be related to Windows trying to install the latest Nvidia drivers and failing horribly.
I haven't tried to upgrade to Creators yet but maybe that's can be related to a certain driver unable to be installed.

Wait until Nvidia fix their driver and you may try to upgrade again.

I was able to successfully update by powering off the laptop after each time it tried to reboot (When the logo appears). Only issue i've noticed since was the system does not always reboot correctly. Powering off the laptop fully fixes the issue though.

Finally someone has a workaround. Looks like it is the ASUS EFI implementation that is flawed.

By the way, how can the system not always reboot correctly? It is strange to me. One thing you can try is to disable "secure boot" in EFI and enable CSM, then alter boot order to boot from C drive instead of UEFI. It may help your reboot situation. If you want to know how to enter EFI, press F2 during boot.

Yes, sounds like there could be an issue right now with Nvidia driver version 381.65 and some ROG notebook models in normal Windows 10 as mentioned at Nvidia's site below that Sheltem was nice enough to provide at post #6 in the thread below, so probably a good idea to avoid it for now if you're seeing any issues.
