Hello again my dear Asus and ROG family,
Back in early 2025, I opened a thread here asking whether I should upgrade my ROG G713QR (Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX 3070 Mobile, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
At that time, many of you suggested that I wait for the 25H2 update before making the jump.
Well, 25H2 is finally here — and I wanted to ask for your opinions again.
Is it finally worth upgrading to Windows 11 25H2 now?
Have you experienced any bugs, performance drops, or driver issues on ROG laptops after upgrading?
I’ve been running Windows 10 since 2021 without any major issues, so I just want to make sure it’s really stable and optimized before switching.
Thanks in advance for your advice, and I appreciate everyone who helped me last time!

i use 24h2 and work perfect i used before 23h2 i think and it worked perfect if you play games and you know how to optimize your laptop it will work perfect

I understand the way you think, pal. My only concern is having trouble during the laptop’s boot. I’ve come across a lot of ROG laptop threads where people’s systems just wouldn’t start for no apparent reason after things like BIOS updates or similar stuff.

Well since the update i get random restarts, crashes, freezing forcing me to reboot. I have a ROG Strix G513QE.
See the below perfmon report... So i would wait if I were you

This is strange i never have problem like this even on old laptop's
Did you update or do clean install whit official Windows in Microsoft
Have you install all recommended driver's from asus
Do you have some undervolts settings in the bios
Is the new windows updated to 25h2

Yeah... not sure what's the issue.
Just did a clean windows install and reinstalling all the Asus recommended drivers.
Also did not tweak any voltage settings anywhere.
The unfortunate thing is that it froze again after i reinstalled windows... So i'll try to reinstall all the drivers for graphics, processor - update BIOS and see what's gonna happen
I'll keep you guys updated on the progress and outcomes.

Sooo after a month of very strange freezes, reboots out of the blue, and general instability i decided it was time to reinstall everything to try to find the issue.
And I think i found it - and it seems it's the power switching done by Armory Crate + windows.
What i think is happening is that the software can't change the profile when the device is suddenly losing plugged power.
Please see my rationale below.
1. I was getting system critical events related to power after unwanted reboots/ freezes.
2. Most of the times i would find my laptop rebooted after it went into sleeping/hibernation.
3. I was getting reboots and freezes on battery power - it was happening the moment i unplugged the power, or couple of minutes after, or when lid was closed.
What i did to hopefully fix this:
- reinstalled Windows (with drive wipe)
- installed MyAsus app - and updated all the drivers suggested there
- installed Armory Crate - and performed all the suggested updates in Armory Crate (the strangest weirdest unintuitive app there is)
starting from power management being my main suspect for the issues i have, did the following:
In Armory Crate
- in Scenario Profiles menu - selected Performance for both on battery and Plugged in.
- Device Menu: Lighting/Settings: Left only Awake option on.
- In Aura Sync menu - disabled performance mode
- Additionally in Windows i disabled any option that would hibernate my laptop.
And if someone from Asus actually reads this - man you need some twisted corporate-rules-infused-mind to put settings for things in different parts of the ArmoryCrate app. Then (!) some of the settings in MyAssus app.
for example battery optimization/wifi optimization -> MyAsus App but none in ArmoryCrate.
in ArmoryCrate you have the GPU performance setting under: Devices with no option to select behaviour when plugged in vs on battery. Noooo ! In order to access those settings you need to go to scenario Profiles to find those settings.
Same for lighting effects but IT'S REVERSED !!! :)) The settings for startup can be found under Devices menu and not under profiles...
As a tester I find it funny but as a user it's always frustrating. And don't get me started on the invasive popups or on trying customize with Aura Creator (that app is a world of UX pain)

I also had some problems with Armory Crate, so now I use GHelper — it’s better, faster, and easier to use.
The power issue was a problem for me too — both on battery and even when plugged in. I had the same problem as you, but after installing GHelper and using a custom power plan in Windows, I no longer have any issues. The laptop works better, and I even have lower latency.
The only problem with the custom power plan is how to install and force it to be used. I installed it using CMD as administrator and forced it through Local Group Policy. After that, the power plan is locked in the Control Panel, but you can still change it in Power Settings Explorer.
Now I also have an undervolt of -180 mV on the CPU, even when running on battery, and I don’t have any crashes or instability.
All of this helped me a lot — I hope it makes things easier for you too.
