Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement battery for this laptop? It's 1 year old and I cannot find it anywhere

fyi. Probably something you prefer to avoid and hopefully others have better suggestions, but if you didn't already know, you can always send it back to ASUS for (out of warranty?) service later if you can't find better options.

If you still have a copy of your invoice, you might also want to check if you can still get warranty service as well.

Sorry, if your unit has an external/removable battery, we probably did not realize this.
You might want to make sure the call center is aware of this, but unfortunately, our repair department is not set up to sell parts although if you don't mind sending back your battery only for RMA (make sure nothing gets near the exposed battery contacts of your notebook while you are waiting), that's another idea.

Otherwise, if you are located in the U.S., you can check if the ASUS Store or U.S. eStore site is able to sell this part.

We don't have a lot of notebooks with removable batteries these days, so apologize if we missed this and something you may want to remind us about.
Thanks and good luck!

Actually I think I figured the problem. My ac jack was broken so I had to get it soldered, but the guy soldered in a charger part that didn't work with my ac adapter so he gave me a charger that is 40 watts when my laptop requires 56 watts.. so I am going to tell the repair dude this and hopefully get a refund and buy the right charger.

Ah, glad you could figure that out and wondering why your battery went bad that quickly.

I believe the GL551JM should be using at least a 120W charger (19V, 6.3A) though like the GL551JW, so you may want to check that as well.
There is a label under your notebook which will list the charger input requirements (19V, 6.3A), so you can check it without having the original charger around.
