Suggested RAM for upgrade

Good day! I have a ROG Strix, the model being the G614JU-NS54 . I'm wondering what brand of RAM to buy, what specific mhz it can handle, and where I would be able to buy it. I know it has a max capacity of 32 GB and I want to add another 16 GB.

Also, looking for a guide on how to install it once I do find the suitable one. Please and thank you!

Hello,

Your CPU determines the max RAM and specification it can handle which according to Intel is up to 5600MT/s and 192GB but some limitations do exist when it comes down to the laptop manufacturer and their testing / specifications.

If you are planning on maintaining the current RAM module installed and simply buying a 16GB module this can cause issues as different memory chips may not work together or performance can be impacted slightly so for the best possible outcome you should try to match the memory to the original one or replace it with a new 2x16GB kit.

SODIMM DDR5 5600 2x16GB

Crucial and G.Skill are both ok.

Kingston are also fine but some of their memory modules that do not have SK Hynix chips may be incompatible so it could be risky.

With all the above being said you will struggle to get anything, SODIMM DDR5 has always been low stock and now with the Ai boom which is causing Memory shortages and massively overpriced stock you may not be able to get anything.

As an example, 2x16GB cost me £85 in January, it will be around £250+ for the same / similar.
