Strix Scar G18 fan control issues

Hi
All of my fans - system, CPU and GPU randomly stop working even when temps are up over 95 deg C.
Laptop got hot enough that it blistered my legs!
I've viewed the fan control in Amoury Crate when this happens and it shows all fans as 0 RPM, although last time it happened the system fan was on 1400RPM and the CPU & GPU fans on 0 RPM despite all temps being around 95 deg.

Only way I can get the fans to work again, is to completely shut the laptop down and restart.
It then works as normal again for a while, but fans will eventually stop working again and the system will run hot.
I've uninstalled Amoury Crate and re-installed with the latest version.

It could be just a coincidence, but this only seemed to start happening after the last major ASUS update, which included a BIOS update. My current BIOS version is 330.

I've Googled to see if anyone else has had this problem, but can't find anything.
I had to perform a full reboot again this morning as fans weren't working and now they are ok again.
I've performed a fan performance test in MyASUS and it passed. Although when I conducted the test, the fans were operational. I will conduct another test next time they fail and see what comes up.

Has anyone experienced similar issues ?

Thanks

Reset the BIOS:

  1. Plug your laptop into the charger.
  2. Turn off the laptop.
  3. When the laptop is off and connected to the charger, hold the power button for 1 minute.
  4. Turn on the laptop and test if the issue is resolved.

If the problem persists, you should consider sending the laptop to a repair service.

thankyou.
I did the BIOS reset and it seems to have fixed the problem.
I wasn't aware of this reset

Hey darren i got the same issue with g614jv laptop by asus. Seems to be quite recent for me. How about you.

Since when did you have the issue.

For me it worked and always after hibbernate fans did no longer turn on.

I tried the reset noe hope it resolves the issue

hey mate,
I only noticed it happening after the recent BIOS update (330).
And yes, like you it usually occurred after the laptop resumed from hibernate mode.
When I conducted a fan test through MyASUS, it passed the test, worked fine and then worked for maybe up to 10 minutes after, but then would stop again soon after.

Only way to get the fans to work again was to completely shutdown and restart the laptop. A simple restart didn't resolve it.

I hope the BIOS reset works for you as well. If it doesn't work, try disconnecting the charger before resetting. First time I attempted it with the charger connected, it didn't work. So I disconnected the charger and tried it again and it worked. I immediately noticed the difference because the second time the login screen took a while to come up, so could tell something was happening in the background.

nice i hope this fix your problem

i reset the bios every time after i update it by the way i tell you

sometimes after update i even have a problem whit CPU frequency my cpu is I9-13980HX but sometimes after update my cpu speed is locked and cant go above 4.5 GHZ for Pcores and 3.4 for Ecores and after i reset the bios that fix my problem so even if you have other strange problems you can try to reset the bios

Yes thanks, it's been working properly for a couple of days now. Based on the frequency of the previous failures, the problem would have definitely reoccurred by now.

Thanks for tip, I will certainly keep the reset in mind if I ever have any other strange things going on with the computer.
It saved me another lengthy and painful warranty service or at the very least a support call/chat, which often results in them recommending you take it to a service centre (which is a 150+km drive from home)....
I only recently got my laptop back after a power charger issue.
