Don't bother with this whole mentdown/spectre bs. Not gonna do you any harm. Also, if you're worried about it, w10 already patched it some time ago with an update. Check if you're "safe" using InSpectre.
I used it to disable both patches. AC Odyssey runs a lot better now for some reason, even tho scores were the same on different cpu benchmarks.

You know, the Spectre Meltdown issue does not bother me at all. As you said, it has been fixed with some Windows Updates. I am safe according to the test but i was hoping for at least one more Bios Update due to the overheating. The GL702VM received an addtional Bios which seems to have improved performance a bit. I tried everything suggested here but still my CPU hits 90. Of course with turbo disabled it runs better but that is not an option.

FULLMETALJACKET7 i am glad to hear that.
I have an 7700hq i am getting 80c with stock frequency 2.8ghz if i enable turbo boost then its hitting 91C maybe goes fruther i didnt want to try it out...Try repasting your CPU GPU with kryonaut ,set in ROG gaming center fan speed on MAX and set an colling pad under your laptop after all this the temperature must be lower otherwise set -100mV on CPU CORE AND CACHE.I wait on my RAM to arrive from amazon Crucial ballistix 2x8gb ddr4 2666mhz i hope it works on this notebook bcs i didnt took the 2400mhz version , then when i take notebook apart ill repaste CPU and GPU die.

The stock paste is fine on the GL502VSK, it gets to a point where you hit a limit on what the heatsink can, uh, sink the heat. Temps on the CPU and GPU are totally fine for me, with fans on auto and turbo boost enabled. Custom voltage/clock curve on the GPU (1810mhz/850mv) and -100mv on the CPU. Taped the fan gaps and raised the back of the laptop 10mm from the table using hard foam tape. 74c on the GPU at 100% load on furmark, can run it all day no problem. CPU hovers around 82C on full load (prime95). Combined 100% load brings the GPU to 78C and CPU to around 90C, after 15 minutes (furmark+prime95). Those are unrealistic loads, you would never reach 100% load on both in real case scenarios. As an exemple, Assassin's Creed Odyssey; GPU temps around 71C and CPU around 85C, and that's a VERY cpu intensive game. The CPU runs at 3.4GHZ at all times, by the way.

That's good enough for me.

I have GL502VY and I tried recent bios version 300. Laptop completely freezes on ROG logo after updete and didn't respond. Only CTRL+Home and prev. version of BIOS have brought it back to life

I updated bios to 307 in my GL704GW and fans are crazy now. They works 2 times loduer now than before. I tried to flash back to 306 but nothing changed they still loud. It was fine before i made update. What can i do now?
