Something Wrong with GL553VD Monitor, Display Color is Pale

Halo guys,

I just bought this laptop series: ASUS ROG GL553VD-D635T about 2 days ago and when I was testing its performance for online games such Lineage2 and PES 2013, I have some kind of issue. The game colors was so pale, I noticed it the first time I look.

So, I compared the display by connecting it to my Toshiba LCD TV through HDMI mode and another laptop Acer Aspire (i3 processor, HD resolution, GeForce 640M). The results? The colors displayed on those two devices is more live. At first, I thought that VGA card is the problem but then I concluded that the problem is on the display monitor.

I've been exploring all the color settings within windows and NVIDIA Control Panel, also searching online all day long to find out what's wrong with it. However, I didn't find any clue closer to my problem. I hope it is just me who couldn't find the right settings yet, not because the monitor is broken 😞

I attached the picture of display comparison, wishing you guys can help me find what's causing it ..

Many thanks 🙂

did you check ASUS splendid utility?

Yes I did, but it said "Splendid does not support the current screen settings".
I tried to update the driver, still that message appeared.
On other article on web, they said ASUS Splendid does not work on Windows 10.

I've been also exploring into high-contrast menu, color calibration (set up gamma rate), change the settings in either Intel Graphic and NVIDIA Control Panel, it helped a bit but the color is still pale.

Any other solutions? 😞

EDIT: re-read last post and you've already checked Intel Graphics.

Well, I just had a GL553V here, and on a fresh install of Windows, the screen was as it should be.
The only thing I could suggest now is to perhaps try a full reset / re-install of Windows and see if it fixes the problem.

If it doesn't, then I would definitely look into getting an RMA for a faulty EDP/LVDS cable // faulty Display Panel.

Asus came with 2 model which is TN and IPS
15.6" (16:9) LED backlit FHD (1920x1080) 60Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72% NTSC with 178˚ wide-viewing angle display
15.6" (16:9) LED backlit FHD (1920x1080) 60Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 45% NTSC

my model with TN panel and have the same issue as yours

This is the panel model from BOE brand:
IPS: NV156FHM-N43
TN: NT156FHM-N41
