Hi everyone, i see Asus put out bios 329 (08/01/2024) version for the 2023 strix g18. Has anyone updated yet? Im thinking its a fix attempt for the intel crashes but so far i ve been fortunate to experience close to 0 crashes but i am lowkey scared to update in case anything breaks even worse

Take it with a grain of salt but I believe this is a preparation for the new next BIOS update.
As I also believe those new BIOS's are updating Intel ME FW because the new microcode update needs an updated Intel ME FW as a requirement since almost over 90% of laptops in general are using an old/outdated Intel ME FW.
I would say go for it. I haven't seen any issue with 329 BIOS.

I have an ASUS G834JZ-N6068 (2023). Yesterday I updated the BIOS to version 329 via MyASUS - as a result, the PC was constantly suddenly rebooting. This afternoon, I manually updated the BIOS again to version 329 - I haven't noticed any problems for 5 hours.

Why mods are closing useful threads randomly forcing us to open hundreds of same topics is beyond me...
I started this thread I wanted to update today, and is now locked with no reason: SCAR 18 G834JY BIOS updates thread - Pagina 2 - Republic of Gamers Forum - 1017934 (asus.com)
Just installed 329 here from MyAsus, nothing strange and no issues apparently.

They close automatically due to inactivity. If there's reason enough to reopen it you can request it.

BTW, has anyone updated keyboard firmware too?

IMHO a general (up-to-date) thread for BIOS updates would be better. If you can re-open it, but updates can be so rare that I'm afraid will be automatically closed again

just updated on my 2023 g634jz, no drama here. hopefully rolling towards intel fix, however I have not had any issues in 12 months of ownership.

Just updated mine via USB Drive from within Bios itself, 2023 G814JZ, went from .317 --> .329, no issues installing & posting to Windows. Also updated the Audio Driver, Intel SST (Bluetooth LE Device in Manager threw an error after updating Bios), & Asus System Control Interface to 3.1.32. Haven't ran anything intensive yet, so fingers crossed.
Bios was able to initiate a restart succesfully as well after installation, so I thought the Restart error I have was eliminated. However when I updated the Audio Driver, and it prompted to restart to complete installation, the notebook once again only got as far as the Asus Rog splash screen and remained there (with a blinking orange battery indicator light). Hard shutdown, booted, posted to Windows, Start Menu-->Restart-->Asus Splash Screen-->Stuck with blinking orange battery indicator. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: Some stats after a few hours of usage on .329 (Keep in mind I went from .317 directly to .329)
Tested - RE4, Elden Ring, FF7 Rebirth - 2560x1440p, 42" C3 at 120hz, games at near max settings, capped at 80fps via Nvcp.
HWiNFO - Max observed VID across all cores - 0.998V, Max Cpu Temp observed - 74c, Max Clock reached across all cores - 3.6ghz
Throttlestop Settings - -130mV to Cpu Core, PL1 55 & PL2 157, Ratios at 50x (These were the same settings I had on .317 prior to updating to .329)
On Bios .317 (and in the same scenarios in-game on the titles I listed above) VID would get up to 1.4V, cores thermal throttling was a guarantee at 86c on average, clocks would reach 4.5ghz+
Those stats are probably nothing new to most anyone here who has been updating the Bios on a regular basis and observing the changes across revisions, and a few hours of this 'testing' i'm describing doesn't say much for stability/confirmation of differences over time, but it's quite a stark contrast in my case. I'm also not implying this .329 includes some form of the upcoming microcode fix, rather that a change to performance values has certainly been made (if not in this .329, then at some point across revisions).
Edit 2: After starting a new Windows session hours later, Cpu performance is back to what it was before, running up to the 50x multiplier set in TS, Core VIDs reaching into the 1.3XV range. It seems for some reason on the previous session (after updating Bios to .329), the Cpu was locked to a 37x ratio, which naturally resulted in lower temps & VIDs. It's odd that occurred, despite Throttlestop running as normal, an odd bug of sorts.
