since December 2025 i noticed random restarts on idle. it was the time i upgraded to win11 25H2. at first once or twice a day, but got more and more. the more i tried to fix it, the more restarts occurred. i tested everything i could and narrowed it down to the CPU power state.
tested:
no reports gets listed only sudden restarts, one dumpstack.log was created but got 100 restarts already.

while i could test downgrade to 24H2, windows will eventually force me to upgrade again and i don´t know why those restarts happen in the first place. had 3 years and 10000h no problem with 5% minimum power state on idle in the windows settings.
is there a solution for this, is the CPU or mainboard faulty? i can use the laptop with 80% in the settings for now.

My brand new G614FR was rebooting randomly, whether it was idling or under full load. In my case, it was not Windows related, because the reboots happened in Linux too.
Each reboot started with a very brief freeze (maybe about 0.25 seconds), followed by a black screen. Neither Windows nor Linux logged any errors, so it looked more like a sudden power loss.
The reboots stopped when I removed my secondary SSD (a Samsung 980) from the second slot, and they returned when I installed it again. The workaround I found was swapping slots with the OS SSD. Now I have both drives installed and the random reboots have stopped.
Still, I have no explanation for the behavior, and I am not comfortable buying another SSD since I am worried the reboots might come back.

hi,
It´s not quite the same for me, but I could give it a try (swapping slots), if nothing helps.
Power loss might be my problem as well, but why only on idle and energy saving on?
Restarts never happen on full load, benchmarks or games.
I have the WD_BLACK SN850X SSD. but had it for 3 years without those restarts running.
I have been in touch with the ASUS support, but no results, yet..
Some new AMD chip driver, that added win11 25H2 support, seemed to have some impact. But not completely solved it, so some outdated driver might be involved.
Also I noticed, if I increase the fan speed in idle, I can even force the restarts. Trigger seemed to be temperature beyond 45-48°C in idle, regardless of the energy saving or fan speed. Some older post describes something of a custom fan curve, but it did not solve it either. I´m clueless at the moment.
I hope, a solution is found sooner or later, or my trust in ASUS might be damaged. They also said, hardware fault is less likely. And yes it´s a 3 years old laptop, but still runs otherwise flawless. And driver updates was lacking.
