Rog Strix G16 - FPS Drops

delus

I bought the 2023 version of the G16 with a 4060 and an i7-13650HX. Since the first day, it has had FPS drops, but I thought they would go away with updates or time. I even considered this kind of performance normal. However, when I searched online for benchmarks, mine performed terribly with constant FPS drops. I've tried Hogwarts Legacy, Fortnite, and Batman Arkham City (which is over 10 years old at this point), and I've experienced stutters with all of them.

If the problem is software related, I am willing to do anything.

Use the search engine in the forum you will find 100+ post's for the same problem read this post's and you will know what to do or what information you need to provide if you cant fix the problem

For example i can send you a screenshot shot whit graph what information is needed to resolve problem like this

Screenshot 2024-04-09 144451.png

CPU,GPU power usage, utilization, temperatures , frequency, Fan speeds

And also this photo is from the same laptop my old G16 RTX 4060 and i7 13650HX even if you can see the CPU is overclocked to 5ghz and gpu to 2650 core clock and the FPS graph is flat whit 0 stutters and temps are perfect

I see. I did searched truoght the forum, and I noticed everyone had this issue with this particular model. I'll see what I can do, but at least to me it seems hardware related. Thank you for your response.

maybe 20% of the problems like your are hardware the other 80% are software and bad optimization for this the most easy way is to make a test and send a graph like this on the photo and will be more easy to investigate the problem

sure, I'll send one as soon as I can. Apart from that, how did you lock your CPU to 5gHz? Also is it safe in the long term?

Intel XTU is the progrema i undervolt the CPU and increase the clock speed

Undervolt is needed to prevent high temperature also to control the temps you need to make custom fan speed graph and use a fan cooling pad

Also before you use this program you need to read more information what is undervolt how to do it what you can broke and other thing

Your laptop can be very good optimized i have the same for 1 year and whit good optimization work perfect

Can this be done in Armory Crate Manual setting? I have tested all Windows, Silent, Performance, Turbo and now was just looking at manual. In all cases the temperatures and clocks all fluctuate. Not sure if this is normal. I'm just starting to go though the forums and researching my new computer.

It depends maybe its normal but untill you dot share a graph whit information like this we cant tell anything

This undervolt can be done only whit Intel XTU
