It seems that I can't turn on HDR 10 in my external monitor. my monitor is LG 29wk600w it even says that it support HDR 10 in the monitor, and one of the main selling points. is it my monitor or is it my laptop or maybe my HDMI cable needs to be changed (the cable I used is from the monitor). And does this laptop support type c display port also

Most likely replacing your HDMI cable will resolve issue, Zeskit Cinema Plus 2.0b High Speed HDMI cables support 4K 60Hz / HDCP 2.2, and HDR http://www.zeskit.com/cinema-plus. You can check your user manual for type C display port support.

The HDMI port on this mode is HDMI 1.4 and type C port does not support display output.
