I have had a GL551 for several years and have used it daily. In the last week or so, after I turn it on and sign in on the log-in page, it will hang up on the welcome screen for a long time, or if I make it to the desktop, it hangs up there. If I turn it off, disconnect the power cord, and remove the battery for a minute and then try again, it will load up fine and then it works fine for the rest of the day. I've run all kinds of diagnostics with no solution.
A computer guy has told me that this is a hardware problem, likely the battery needs replacing. Does this sound right, and is it worth it to spend the money to get a new removable battery pack for a computer that's probably 3 or 4 years old? Thanks.
