Hello, I just purchased a rog strix g16 in ITALY, I would like to know if it is possible to open the laptop to add another ssd without voiding the warranty and what steps I would need to take to keep the warranty in place 🙂

I don't know if there are other rules in other places but here in north America, I was able to open it up and upgrade the ram. From what I understand, the warranty only covers the parts that were given when you received the device. If you break something while upgrading or installing another item then it wouldn't be covered. So I believe you should be fine to upgrade your storage without voiding your warranty. I would suggest finding a video on YouTube that shows how to open it as some will say specifically what to do to avoid voiding your warranty. Hope this helps!

I know that in America you can do it, but here in the past you couldn't. 4 years ago I discovered that msi in my country needs to give you consent through its assistance to open it under warranty, so i was wondering what is asus' policy here in italy. Thank you vey much 🙂

It is enough that before sending it under warranty, remove the added stuff and put it back as when you purchased it.

Yeah but i wish to know if in italy doing that is a problem for warranty since when I was young there were factory seals basically on every device

Read the comments in this Post and you will find the answer
And the first thing that i do when i buy my laptop was to change add SSD and change ram so if you have a warranty problem just send the laptop whit original part's and you will not have any problems i write from Bulgaria

Thank you for your answer! I'm wondering if the same can be said for italy, maybe in the next days asus staff can confirm or deny it. Btw your heating issue was the cpu running to 95 instantly? In my laptop (during a cinebench r23 run) cpu temp slowly creeps up to 95/96 where it stays at full clock (at least from hwinfo) until the run ends

Yes you will not have a problem you open your laptop and if you do you can contact your country institution's they will have becouse that cant broke your warranty
And another thing how many points have you done in Cinebench r23
Did you use a cooling pad
When you buy the laptop
Have you open it for cleaning
