New G512LW RAM locked at 2933 MHz (even though advertised as 3200 MHz).

New laptop. Ran some benchmarks and noticed RAM was at 2933. No biggie, I'll just fix it in BIOS... Nope. There is no option whatsoever. After digging, I found this little tidbit on Asus' site:

https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Strix-G15-17/Tech-Specs/
*Full DDR4-3200 support will be enabled by an automatic BIOS update in July 2020. Older BIOS versions can manually set the memory to 3200MHz, but the July update is recommended for maximum stability.

Well, it's almost the end of August and .310 is still the newest BIOS version and no XMP/JEDEC/OC support. Why did the 3200MHz support get delayed? When can a fix be expected? Anyone else having the same issue?

I believe its to do with the 10750H not having any overclocking features in the bios... AT ALL so we cant get the 3200Mhz XMP that we want...
I also think its partly to do with the intel SGX vulnerability from 7th to 10th gen processors so as a precaution Asus locked up the undervolt & overclock on the latest models

For some reason, I can't reply to your PM so I'll do it here.

Hi. You are running 64GB on your G512LV? I have the LW version, and the site says 32GB max. Let me know! Thnx.

Yes i'am running 64GB @ 2933Mhz even though I have 3200mhz ram installed.

If you use https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/asus/rog-strix-g512lw you will find out that 64GB is the largest you can go but it won't be 3200Mhz it will be 2933mhz but the 3200Mhz is the category of ram I ended up with (its cheaper than 2933Mhz lol)
Type this command in CMD.exe
wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices

Your result will be like this
MaxCapacity MemoryDevices
67108864 4

which roughly translates to 64GB on 4 slots

if you get half that figure then that means your max is 32GB

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I get the same: 67108864 4

We have 4 slots? Only saw 2 when I peeked in there..

its just 2 i think its to do with the bios or type of motherboard configuration and its not updated... Either that or there is another 2 slots that I'm not aware of lol

okay, got a few updates but still no answer to original question.

ASUS support mentioned 3200 MHz is not yet available from Intel on the I7-10750H Laptop CPUs.

Well, this is simply not true. Per Intel's site here, 3200 is supported: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000007393/processors.html

86105

A separate ASUS support member mentioned support is not there because of instability running at 3200 MHZ on this model, and to keep an eye out for a BIOS update in the future. This response seems most accurate, but it took some interrogation to get that answer. They are not openly mentioning this, since all of their advertisements mention 3200 MHz. Most people wont notice.

Dear both,
I'm really sorry that the 10750H version does not support 3200MHz RAM in the latest BIOS.
Please refer to below Intel specification about it's 10750H CPU.
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/201837/intel-core-i7-10750h-processor-12m-cache...
Our setting is designed and based on Intel regulation and limit, in order to have better and stable performance.
We are really sorry that all the information are rather general and vague, we have been working on the improvement and adjustment.
Thank you so much for your feedback.

Might want to chime that information down to your authorized retailer. I was informed 3200MHZ on the LV model but nope the moment I saw my XMP profile being 2933 I knew that was bogus ended up having to search other retailers to get proper information that also lead to this URL that you posted.

Not too bothered by this the LV model is decent for the price and I have 64GB of RAM I can use for editing and graphics modeling when I get down to it but atm I'm happy gaming knowing that most load times are negligible at best.

Hi Blake,

The link with the posted speed is simply not accurate. I have the model with an Intel Core i7 10875H and if you refer to the spec sheet from the same site:

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/202329/intel-core-i7-10875h-processor-16m-cache...

It also references the max speed of 2933 MHz when my laptop RAM speed is running at 3200 MHz.

The speed of 3200 MHz was an advertised speed posted when selling the laptops and it is unacceptable to now point at a spec sheet and say it is not supported by Intel.

We would like to know the estimated timeline at which the 3200 MHz speed will be implemented in the BIOS that was guaranteed in a future update at point of sale and must be followed through.

Geforce GTX 2070 Super

Yes, I have the same issue still! ROG Strix G17, i7 10750H, RTX 2070Super. Just updated the BIOS today and went right away to check it out... And Nope!! Still 2933! A bit annoying actually, because the original memory and the advert is 3200MHz. I was a bit disappointed when I discovered this fact! A friend of mine has the same computer with i7 10850H, same chipset like me Comet Lake HM470 and RTX 2080Super. But his memory runs at 3200MHz!!! I couldn't find out why!?! I hope ASUS does something to resolve this!!
