Need Help Choosing an ASUS ROG (Total Beginner Here!)

Hey everyone!
I’m super new to gaming laptops and honestly have no idea what I’m doing

I want to start gaming for fun, but I also want a laptop that I can use for learning programming. A lot of people told me ASUS ROG laptops are really good but when I checked on one of the online tech store online, there are so many ROG series that I got completely confused.

I don’t understand the differences between Strix, Zephyrus, Flow, etc., and I don’t want to pick the wrong one. If anyone can guide a complete beginner like me on which ASUS ROG is good for both gaming and programming, I’d really appreciate it. Being a introvert, I find it really difficult to visit the store and ask for recommendations.

The main differences between Asus ROG laptops lie in their primary focus:

Strix models prioritize raw gaming performance at a lower price point, while Zephyrus models balance high-end gaming with a slimmer, more portable design and premium features like advanced displays and speakers. Strix SCAR models are the top-tier in the Strix line, offering the most powerful components and elaborate RGB lighting, while the Flow series is the most portable, often in a tablet form factor with the option of an external GPU

  • Strix (SCAR and G):
    • Focus: High-end gaming performance for the price.
    • Performance: Generally offers more powerful CPU/GPU options for the cost, with the SCAR being the highest-end of the two.
    • Design: Thicker and heavier than Zephyrus, built for performance over portability.
    • Features: More robust cooling systems, and elaborate RGB lighting (especially on SCAR).
    • Portability: Less portable due to larger size and weight.
  • Zephyrus:
    • Focus: Blending gaming performance with a sleek, portable design.
    • Performance: Still high-end, but components may be slightly less powerful than Strix models in comparable tiers due to thermal constraints in a slim chassis.
    • Design: Thin, light, and often constructed with premium materials like full aluminum.
    • Features: May include features for creators, such as high-quality OLED displays, larger glass trackpads, better speakers and mics, and SD card readers.
    • Portability: Highly portable, designed for users who travel frequently.
  • Flow:
    • Focus: Extreme portability, often with a unique tablet form factor.
    • Performance: Packs powerful components into an ultra-portable design, and can be boosted with an external GPU (XG Mobile) for desktop-level performance.
    • Design: The most compact and often includes a detachable keyboard or screen.
    • Features: Customizable via the optional external GPU, which adds ports, a LAN port, and even more GPU power.
    • Portability: The most portable series, even more so than Zephyrus
